Using MIDI controllers for Mixvibes Softwares

Postby BennyB on 31 Jul 2011, 16:53

Hi Guys.

Please feel free to share some experience with MIDI controllers used with mixvibes software

My plan is to get a Mixvibes software and a U46MK2, but 2 small kontroll devices along with these.

A Korg nanoPAD 2, and a Korg nanoControl 2

The question stays: Can I use these to controll the music?

I'll use the nanoControl as a Mixer, and the nanoPad for hot-cues, samples and effects.

So any experience?

Let me summarize it:

U46MKII costs approximately 100€
Mixvibes Cross DJ 39€
both nano Controllers around 80€

So you are about to spend 180€.

If you increase your budget to 280€ you can get the U-Mix Control Pro with Cross DJ and if you are getting it during the summer deal you get it woth Cross, 2 Timecode CDs and two 7" Timecode records.

I have some experiences in using the nano Kontrol. You can control Cross with it but it is not as comfortable as I have thought.

Cheers,

Steve

I am not quite sure about the options of the DVS 7 LE version. If it supports MIDI controllers then he surely can use his U-Mix Control Pro with that version but the U-Mix Control Pro is shipped with Cross DJ or Cross which, in my opinion, beat DVS 7 LE that hard ;)

DVS7 LE has a premap for the nanaPAd and nanoControl:)
But DVS7 LE has some trouble BPM analysing exspecially DnB and dubstep which is mostly mix... and I couldn't find how to modify a preset bpm in LE...
Still using VirtualDJ 7pro with my friends license. But even DVS LE has a better sound quality than VDJ.

I know Control Pro is a good choice.

However, I still has to point, it doesn't have a pro sound device (only 16 bit and lack of 1/8" TRS connections)

However there is still a point for the Control Pro, as I had some fun with it on MusicMesse 2011.I like the layout.

And I only could get the stuff part-by-part 'cause of tiny budget.

Are you afraid that the sound in the club is bad? I have tested it on a big PA and it sounds great - no difference to casual CD players or something like that.

I know it is hard to save, but if you do so instead of buying the korg part by part you will get a wonderful present in the end ;)

You Know, it is hard to compare the options... because If you choose something tha don't work well for you, you might end up selling it and loose on the stuff...

And I had bad luck with the control pro.
I didn't mentioned it before but I got one about 2 months ago, and I only had it for a week (just got home from school, to check out the stuff, and I went back the other day, so I barely could try it out), because It was stolen. I didn't thought about having it stolen, so I stored everythinn inside the box but burglarst took it from the house (along with my parents laptops).
And no I don't have the serials, since everithing was in the box, I though this way they won't get lost...
And the police had no luck finding it, and without the serials, the software license and everithing is gone....

Very very sad to read that!!!! No way to get the money back? From an insurance or something comparable?

You can use the korg, they are good! To me it was always some kind of tiny controller for browsing the colelction and using some effects but you CAN use it for all MIDI controlled stuff in Cross or DVS - it works! Creating a mapping is sometimes hard, I have tried it often and can not say that I like it. Maybe this will be a hurdle but otherwise the tiny korg controllers are great!
