Can't Calibrate CD Mixers in DVS

Postby suncstboi on 02 Jun 2011, 04:30

Good afternoon all,

I'm having issues trying to calibrate my CD's. I've read a few post about If using 64 bits computer then use your sound card in 48 khz mode.

I've bought up the ASIO Settings and it has a few options of buffer size, 80; 128; 192; 256 (current); 512; 1024; 2048. Which do i choose?

Can you please help me with my CD config Issue.

Also here is my Config Status:

nice to see a new user being able to use his head and read something about his problem before asking anything ;)

you only forgot one thing: to mention your issue. whats wrong exactly?

for the latency/buffer setting question: set it to for example 128, then (after we solved the other problem, of course) test it, drop a few tunes, if you can play them without any glithces/artifacts in the sound then its fine where you set it. in case you get these then set it one step higher, test it again, and so on.. repeat till you find a stable setting with it without any sound defect (this mainly depends on your PC s power, a strong machine can easily handle 128 buffer -or even 64 and lower- which good enough for scratching)
but wait for an answer from one of the rocket scientist guys here too (jay, steve where are you? ) im sure they ll add a few comments on this

Hahaha. That may help...sorry

When I loaded DVS software it asks forthe CD/Vinyls to be calibrated. I'm using CD's - I set the pitch to zero - play the CD's then hit CD's then Next - in the instruction manual it says i must see the message Player has been calibrated successfully. It doesn't say this for either CD's.

The CD's play through DVS still - but the sine waves dont show on the interface screen (but mp3 files do) and dont appear in the calibration graphs (under the Vinyl/CD input screen). Also the percentage of the time code is at 0%.

How can I fix the calibration to get my CD's to play through DVS properly?

Hi,

maybe you have pitchlock enabled on the cd-players?
But then it probably wouldnt say 0%.

Also i find it very strange, that mp3 are playing fine thru DVS...so you just hit bypass in the software and it works fine, but control cds dont calibrate?!?

Just a shot in the dark, but we had this very same issue just a couple of weeks ago here in the forum, and it was caused by the U-Mix getting too much input.
So maybe you can try decreasing the input level in the U-Mix panel.
(Also make shure the latest driver is installed http://forum.mixvibes.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=402 )

regards
J

Edit make shure you cleanly uninstall the previous driver with ccleaner.

that would be my guess too, after hearing the problem

doesnt the manual include this part in it? cuz most of the cdjs have boosted outputs (well, the pioneers do, but those are the most common types). if not, mv really should indicate this fact somehow cuz it seems to be the most common issue (especially with DVS!) and would save users (and the team here  ) from a lot of headache i guess!

Translating this code into a processor returns:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 820 @ 1.73GHz

or something comparable. I did a little research and your processor seems to be some of the Intel "Sandy Bridge" series:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel-Core ... ndy_Bridge

Check the last line, it is unfortunately german but you can see that your processor belongs to this seris, right?

Why am I posting this? Well, I had a problem with one of this processors in combination with a different audio interface (ESI U46 MK II) weeks ago at a friend. We had exactly the same problem you are describing!!!! The sound is getting throught the interface AND the software to the mixer but the calibration ran wrong.
Finally with j-kut's help we could figure out the problem: the sandy bridge processors are handling USB in a different way. This is why there are problems with older USB 1.1 interfaces. Our solution was and stil is a new audio interface, a USB 2.0 interface (Hercules DJ Trim 4&6).

This would be my suggestion for you: Please try to grab a USB 2.0 audio interface (Hercules DJ Trim 4&6, Native Instruments Audio 4,6,8 or 10,...) and try if this works.
Another suggestion is to change the buffer size of you U-Mix44. Is this possible ? Unfortunately I do not own this interface, just the U46, but if it is possible please do so. J-kut played around with the buffer sizes and ended up that a high buffer size is a solution.
Additionally you can try a different sample rate: 48kHz.

Please check all described hints and report any success AND all failures too - it is helpfull for everybody with your problem and processor!!!!!

Thanks a lot in advance and crossing fingers!

Cheers,

Steve

Oh boy,

not again
the i-core/sandy bridge issues are really becoming constant now,
them pcs should have a big, red sticker on´em saying
"do not use with usb1.1 audio-devices"

Solution needed (hard- or softwarewise, i dont care!)

2 more ideas: -maybe you could try asio4all or a active usb 2.0 hub.

no guaranteed solution, but maybe worth a try.
