Best controller option?

Postby thoms on 19 May 2011, 09:06

When using a set up of a mixer and two turntables, whats the best option to not have to use the mouse anymore? I really dont want a huge controller in adition to my mixer.... It has to be a simple and easy way to change/load songs, cue and loop and the most essential stuff. I have used the nanokey but it aint logical. I want something that is buildt for the purpose. Jogwheels is absolutely not wanted as they take to much space.

Hi,

sounds like you want something like an NI X, Reloop Contour or maybe Dicers.

regards
J

Edit: There is no best controller there´s only the best-suited for you, so a little more info on what you wanna do with it would be great.

Dicers look my kind of size but Im not sure it is easy to switch/load songs with them.
What Im after is a controller with an easy way to switch/load songs, cuepoints and looping.
In basics a small controller with logic setup and a button for each option. Not a "push shift and A to do this, and shift, crl and B to do that sort of controller"

hm,

that´s hard (a small, basic controller with a button for each function will end up being the size of a turntable...)
Unless you use modifiers (shift) you wont find any small controller.

I suggest you try out the X1 and also take a look at faderfox controllers.

The x1 looks like a decent size but how is it loading/changing songs with it? I cant seem to find any info about that anywhere:(

If you do not want to spend money you can use the track select option of you timecode vinyls or CDs and for looping and cuepoints you can use the keybord. The mapping seems to be quit easy, as easy as mapping a MIDI controller.
If you really want a MIDI controller I agree with j-kut!!!

Steve

Or you could always go with the U-Mix Control Pro, the size is very decent, it is very compact. It could go in your backpack with your laptop! The important thing to know is that the U-Mix Control Pro is made for Cross and Cross DJ and is developed by MixVibes developer, which means that you will not have any mapping problems or software issues.

I would really take a close look at the U-Mix Control Pro!

Here is the product page.

U-Mix controle pro looks good, but Im a turntabelist and Im deeply in love with my Numark x5. But do the U-Mix cp have a "innofader" kind of crossfader? Cuz if I should ever should get one, the cf would definatly have to stand some beating.

The timecode vinyl way of changing song is way to troublesome, and so is the keyboard. I need a small controller and I dont care to much bout what it costs. I want the best suitable small controller around. And my guess is its the X1.
