Bad Recording

Postby Sebas94 on 03 May 2011, 20:06

Hi, I ve tried to record my mixes and it recordes it, the two items at the same time (turntable and cdj) its perfect but, it records as i was controling the mix with the PC program, and i controle the mix with the external mixer, so, when i use ecualizers on my mixer it is like i didnt touch anything, but when i use the PC program ecualizers, then its works and i can see the ecualizer effects on the recording. some idea?

Hey,

I'm not realy shure if I understand you correct so please correct me if I'm wrong. You use two Inputs to play with timecodes. you also use a external mixer so you can't grap the sound directly from the internal audiodevice.
So you connected the output of the mixer to the LINE-IN of your computer / Laptop? And now the sound is bad?

Which program do you use and is the input value is not to high?

Christian

No, the sound is perfect, i mean that the recording is bad, not bad quality, an example: i play 2 songs on my input 1 and on the input 2, all ok, and i click the button rec, then i quit the bass of the 2 songs by the ecualizers of my external mixer, on my headpones and on my speakers its ok, the bass has gone, but on the record still the same, as i havent touch anything, but when i quit the bass on the PC program with the mouse, it records good, theres no bass on the record. you know now what i mean?

Oh ok,

my question: Are you using the internal rec buttons?
Or did you use an external program and routes the sound from the mixer (Rec-Output, Master out, Booth-Out or so) to the LINE-IN?

When you use the internal from DVS it is normal because you kill the bass "analog" when pressing on the DVS it is killed digital.

So the main question is which program and how is it connected when using other programs.

The record is recording the sound of your outputs, the sound that is leaving your computer. You manipulate this external sound, that you record, with your mixer EQs which do not affect the recoding. This manipulated sound is NOT recorded. This is usual behaviour.

Blackbrook you was faster than me to answer him ;) but an add:

When you want those funktionality you must use an MIDI controller where you map your digital Mixer in DVS.
So you can kill the bass with an button or with an knob or on what you map it on the controller.

or simply route the rec out from your mixer to a recording device which can be a small hd recorder or simply the line in on your PC (you can even use another computer for it to avoid performance issues what the continous swapping of the hdd can cause) and record the mix with another software (like audacity)
