Hey all, new here!

Postby Hilo4noff on 19 Apr 2011, 08:23

Rich in Illinois here, I came up in the new beat era, and then had my own business which I sold (stupidly) to pursue a career! Well now that that mistake is over, I'm getting back to my passion of djing. Vfx Control is a strong contender to build my system around, unfortunately mixvibes seems to be absent from the Us market. Shoot me any experience you have with it. Is their support adequate. How do I do sample banks in Vfx? I've scoured the internet and found two videos total... one in English (a mixvibes release hype video) and one in Spanish or Italian, I think... of an actual user. This level of tactical covertness is unheard of in this modern age of the internet. What's going on here? Thanks in advance for any insights.

Hello Rich, first of all welcome to the community. Hope that you will enjoy it!
Here are some answers to your questions:
- Vfx Control is a great solution that allows you to mix audio and video with a software and controller.
- Is the support efficient? Any question that is asked by a user is usually answered that day, so yes it is very efficient, and MixVibes always finds a solution to problems!
- do I do sample banks in Vfx? Yes you can use sample in Vfx
- My personnal experienced? I have used Vfx Control a couple times, and it is really a great software and controller that allows you to control audio and video, it is incredible how the video content reacts while you are djing, you have total control on the video.
- Videos ? (See bellow)

Thanks for the quick response! Looking at the features, it seems that I will still need some sort of mixer if only to plug a mic into. Then you say that I can use samples with this software... Does it have a different screen or a partial screen like virtual DJ where one can tweak the sample's parameters and such? I'm only asking because I can't find this info anywhere else.

Thanks for the videos; you found the same ones that I came up with. It's just that none of them really flush out the software's ins and outs.

Other questions: Is the software stable?
If the program crashes does it take the controller with it until the program restarts?
Can I run a second room with it (booth control)?

I'm kind of thinking that a full fledged mixing board is needed to work in tandem with this controller. And here is where we get to the sticking point... There are other mixers with all the capabilities that I need and will operate regardless of a software hiccup, and although the video effects and transitions have my mouth watering, Mixvibes price on the software alone is way above what the competition is charging for their complete solution. That's not a bad thing, it's just an economic consideration for me as to which platform will get me into those paying gigs quicker. What is everyone else using with Vfx?

Keep in mind that I'm not knocking the program, I want this program, and I'm trying to iron out where it fits in with what I want to do. Thanks for your help

Hello, i'll do a detailed answer:

I will still need some sort of mixer if only to plug a mic into.

You can use a controller, the Vfx Control for example.
http://www.mixvibes.com/content/vfx-control-0

Then you say that I can use samples with this software... Does it have a different screen or a partial screen like virtual DJ where one can tweak the sample's parameters and such?

In Vfx, there are two screens for you deck A and B, and in the middle there is a monitor screen that shows you what is broadcasted out.

Other questions: Is the software stable?

The software is very stable!

If the program crashes does it take the controller with it until the program restarts?

When the program crashes, you have to restart the software, and your back mixing again.

Can I run a second room with it (booth control)?

What do you mean by second room?

There are other mixers with all the capabilities that I need and will operate regardless of a software hiccup, and although the video effects and transitions have my mouth watering, Mixvibes price on the software alone is way above what the competition is charging for their complete solution.

Actually the Vfx software is a reasonnable priced solution compared to other software on the market. If you think about it this way, this software is really great, it will allow you to do great vjing sets, if you decide to buy it, you will be using the same software as Tiesto!

Keep in mind that I'm not knocking the program, I want this program, and I'm trying to iron out where it fits in with what I want to do. Thanks for your help

You're right, i would do the same if i were you. Hope all my answers will help you out in your decision making process!

Thanks for the help and clarification. By second room, I meant like a karaoke bar that has a main room for the crooners and then a quieter area where the people can still hear the announcements and such but the karaoke racket is just background music, like in a lounge.

Thanks again for the help.
