Headphone Distortion when Cueing

Postby rudeebeatz on 26 Jan 2011, 19:19

I'm using Mixvibes 3dex le software and the dj-tech iMix controller with an X-FI GO! usb soundcard for the main sound and the headphones running to my laptop's internal soundcard input, I have ASIO4ALL installed and everything works great except one thing.
When mixing I get to about the 3rd song and the headphones start to distort a little when cueing, by the 5th-6th song they are completely distorted to the point they are un-usable, but by the 7th-8th song it goes away completely!
What might the issue be?
Any help is appreciated!

Uncheck the resample option into asio4all.

Well, I un-checked the resample option for both the internal and external sound card and it still distorts as I mentioned in my post :( Any other ideas are appreciated please!

Maybe it is hardware related. If it is getting stronger the longer you spin it might come from a part/component that is getting warmer?!

Does this happen when you listen to a media player through this cue port?

What is the samplerate of each soundcard ? what is your samplerate setting inside Cross ?

Here's a screenshot of both soundcards so you can see everything, thanks for the help so far. :)

Can't tell, may be the issue is with one of the soundcard vs. asio4all.

If you invert the routing into Cross so the soundcard for cueing became the one for master and vice-versa.
Does the distortion happen on the same connector or follow the cue routing ?

Well seems to be my internal soundcard solely, by switching the cables and using my internal as the main output and it distorts as noted, so thinking im going to do myself a favor and buy a new soundcard with multiple outputs and bypass using my internal and solve the issue that way, thanks for the help all :)

Well I can listen to an hour mix through the internal soundcard running to normal PC speakers and its clean as can be the whole time with no problems, I think the sound card is just being stressed and over-worked when used with mixvibes, not surprising with a factory internal card I suppose. But I went ahead and ordered a Numark I/O USB card on sale to run everything through and see how that works out when I get it. :)
