Calibrating issue (Quality 0%)

Postby jimthegin on 22 Jan 2011, 23:13

Hi, I'm a new customer of mixvibes.

I'm using 2 classic turntable and windows 7 x64bits and I've got a problem with calibrating.

I checked hundred times all the connections I tried to switch them I tried the new driver for my U46MK2, I also tried uninstalling and instaling mixvibes again... Nothing... Quality is still on 0% on both decks and it keeps asking me to set the pitch to 0 even if it's allready done... And there is another problem since I installed the new driver, I can't change the buffer size :!: Please help me

You can only change the buffer size in the audio interface's control panel. If you can not change it there it might be a driver issue which would explain your calibration issue. Is the U46 set up as used audio interface in Cross' preferences?

Actually I can change it in the audio interface's control panel.

Yup, I ticked Mixvibes U46MK2 ASIO. And the figure on my calibration graphes are more like straight line or just plenty of points but nothing like circle.

Does it appear on both decks? If so please be aware that you have to choose Line on the front of the U46 as input. If this is already set up you might check the cables of your turntables. Are the turntables okay? I mean if you play a casual record can you listne to it without any noises or distortions?
The lines in Cross say that there is something coming in that can not be interpreted. Is there maybe something inbetween? Amplifiers, RIAA filters,...?

Greetings,

Steve

EDIT: can you upload or attach a screenshot? Thanks!

Yes it was because I switch the front button on phono, because when I switc it on the Line one, nothing happen

Yep there is no problem.

I also link my mixer to the output of the U46

EDIT: can you upload or attach a screenshot? Thanks!

Yes I'll do that.

Okay, so another hint: The lines you were seeing might be from the RIAA filter, casual noise. If nothing happens when you switch to line I guess that there is no signal coming in. Did you connect everything as it should? Sorry, do not want to be impolite, if it sounds so please let me know!
So this is how you have to connect it:

- the left turntable is connected to the Inputs 1/2 on the U46
- the right turntable is connected to the Inputs 3/4 on the U46
- the outputs 1/2 are connected to any line in of your mixer
- the outputs 3/4 are connected to another line in of your mixer
- the u46 is connected via USB

Please check the needles and please check if sound is getting through the turntables if you play a casual record. In my opinion there is something wrong with your setup or with your turntables, but we will get this working!

Steve

Yep as I told you I Allready check that many times, everything is okay on this point.

Please check the needles

you mean the ground ?

and please check if sound is getting through the turntables if you play a casual record.

My turntables work.

Yes I guess so, thank you for your help, nothing would be impolite!

Try to increase the gain at the vinyl/cd tab. I can see the little point in the middle and this may be the signal in a very very very low volume. Also I am not sure if changing the dB under Entrée might help. It seems as if the signal is surpressed somehow. Please play around a bit with the gain to see if the circles come in.

Another point: I am not that deep into french but does the "error" message with the speed (La vitesse) mean that the pitch is not set to zero? This might mean that although you have set the pitch to zero on your turntable it is not recognized as 0%!? I have no clue how to solve this, sry.

Try with the gain and please report what happened. Thanks!

It seems that it worked for the right deck (even if the quality is still 0%). Although it didn't "work" everytime I tried the right deck, sometimes it still telling me to reset the pitch... Plus if I plug left deck on the 3-4 and right on the 1-2 nothing change on the screen, the left deck will be recognize and not the right one so I guess the problem come from the U46.
