Also I cannot click on the CD/Vinyl button, it disappears once Cross window has fully loaded up??

What is your screen resolution ?

I think there is something wrong with my version. Maybe it hasn't installed properly??

What version do you have ?

I would go to the download centre a download the latest release, Cross 1.5 and see how it goes then.

I don't know Jim. Its deffo something to do with timecode and u46 mk II as the Cross software works fine just on the laptop, no sound issues at all. its got to be latency issue or souncard driver i'm convinced.

my laptop is out of warranty now so i may reformat it get rid of vista and go back to xp, upgrade RAM while im at it.

is Cross compatible with XP home sp3?? or pro sp3??

Defo XP home SP3, not to sure on the Pro (but I can't see why not)

If you are planning installing more Ram (I would looking at your early post) I would consider upgrading to Windows 7.

I had Vista (32bit, Home Premium) on my Gig'ing laptop, although I didn't have any problems with it, I felt the OS was too "heavy". As soon as Windows 7 came out I decided to upgrade to that rather than downgrade to XP. I've been using 7 now for well over a year with no problem.

Have you thought about trying the DPC latency checker. It will show you whether you have a driver or drivers that are misbehaving and causing your sound problems.

Download it and try it mate, there's no harm in it ;) you never know, you might see some interesting results

I think i have figured out the problem. No drivers for the u46 mk2 have installed, hence no u46 mk2 control panel. Thats why i didn't understand what steve was saying when he told me to go to the soundcard control panel. i am just about to download them from the website and try again.

Wise words on windows 7 though probably the better way to go

at last I have managed to get a step further in my installation by actually downloading the latest drivers for the u46 MK2 from this website. I now have a fully functioning soundcard control panel in my system tray so I can adjust latency and buffer rate like Steve advised.
I haven't checked out whether it works yet as my son is asleep in our room so cannot hook it all up but will keep you posted.
I have downloaded Cross 1.5 too.
My only question now is which driver to select in the

File: preferences/audio
Do i always select MIXVIBES U46MK2 ASIO

Thanks

 OMG this is so annoying. Having downloaded the correct drivers for the soundcard, and the Cross 1.5 update, I have raced home from work tonight to set everything up again and see if this has cured the problem.

It hasn't, if anything it has made it worse. Initially things looked good. wired everything up calibrated the cd's and got 100% straight away (after it being only 40ish% the other day)............all good so far. Load a track in the deck hit play..............not only is this sound still stuttering but now there is a loud high pitched whistle over the top of it too.

I give up and will be selling this piece of kit asap. I appreciate my laptop is at the low end of the specifications but it is after all within the required spec so should work.

I'm sticking with CD's
