all i5 have problem with usb 1.1 sound cards...if your going to get a i5 your sound card has to be usb 2

The U46 MK II is a USB 2.0 soundcard? I am not sure and did not find info on it. When I plug it in my laptop there is no info in the taskbar that this device can work much faster. This is the "error" message I got with old hardware that was using USB 1.1. So I guess that the U46 is not USB 1.1 and I should be fine, right? I hope so! I can test the laptop for two weeks and I will see if it works as I expect

The U46 is usb 1.1, most of i3/5/7 have issue with this but not all of them.
Check for any bios update that should fix this.

Is it chipset related? Because I took the Intel HM55 chipset from 2010. There were a lot of modells with older chipsets. But I will try a BIOS Update if it does not work. Thanks in advance!
