Reloop Digital Jockey 2 - left Jog-Wheel does not work

Postby Blackbrook on 06 Sep 2010, 19:10

Hello there,

so my reloop digitaly jockey 2 arrived today and after some hours of learning for my exam on friday I closed the books and started installing and configuring the controller. Everything works out of the box instead the left jog-wheel and the right deck treble gain. Here is what I tried:

- cloned the official mapping and tried to configure it on my own without less result. In fact I don't know which option I have to choose and how I can divide the adress from the jog wheel into two (one for fine bend up and one for fine bend down)

- updated the firmware successfully

- when I move the jog-wheel the register card in the MIDI preferences turns green, so there is information that is transmitted

I guess my only problem is how to connect the adress to the action I want to assign. So can anybody help me out of there?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Steve

   not shure this will help  looked at the MIDI mapping for reloop dj2 ,saw in player 1 commands for pitch up /pitch down, in player 2 saw comands for pitch up /down , they were slightly different, but already mapped, when i was playing around with key board mapping i had to look at the sutile differences between the mapping action and try to find the differences from what worked to what i tried to have work,a lot of trial and error, but with the action of duplicating the file you can experment with out hurting the original file,  one question doese the other existing mapping for the left jog wheel function as it should   hope this maybe helped a little

Sure it helped! Thanks a lot my friend! I am trying like you did with the dupication of mappings.
In the original mapping that came with Cross the left jog-wheel does not work too.

I will keep on trying, maybe I will find a solution as you did.

Thanks daniel!!!

Greetings,

Steve

  just a thought ,if the two players has seperate mapping for each player would changing the mapping in the left player to mirror what in the right player , give any info to the correctness of the mapping of the left player,  trying to think this thing out in circles

Steve,

If I understand you right, you want to use the jogs for Pitch bend?

If this is the case, this is how the mapping is for the Hercules RMX. If I turn the jogs on my RMX they do Pitch bend.

Check the official pre-set mapping for the RMX and just copy the settings. It may work mate.

But the only thing I'm worried about is the jogs on the Reloop are touch sensitive so my idea might not work, but I guess it's worth a try, mate ;)

P.S.

Make sure you put Cross in CD mode first ;)

WORKS! Bringing your and daniel's idea togehter I could make it work! The option is "Pitch Bend" and if I turn the jog wheel there is an option in Cross appearing saying: Pitch Bend for Jog Wheel? So this is what I selected and now it works! THANKS MY FRIENDS!!!

Now only the treble gain is left, but that takes time. I can continue learning now because my mind is free from this problem :D THANKS!

Greetings,

Steve

My guess is that the message must be slighty different from the one I have (weird).

For the treble button :
go into mixer/treble gain A
click on - to remove the assigned key/button
click on + to add a new one
touch your knob
select direct fader/knob
click ok

If you have read what was written down here since now forget everything :D

Here is the clue: Being special is often hard. I mean some of you know that I only bought the reloop digital jockey because of the 14 Bit pitch fader so that I can mix in a very very small resolution of 0.01%. And this is why I thought: Okay, if you have a 14 Bit pitch fader you should mark the 14 Bit in the MIDI settings so that Cross can handle it. THIS WAS THE FAULT! I don't know what is happening in the controller if 14 Bit in Cross is marked but this caused all the problems I have. After deactivating the 14 Bit in Cross and using the default file everything works as it should. The jog wheel works and the treble and gain (forgot to mention that, but who cares now  ) do their job very well now too.
So I am going to record my forthcoming radio show with this new setup now.
Last question: How do the controller guys out there handle the master and cue sound? Till now I have everything plugged in my DJM 600 because of the timecode stuff so I can listen to both channels with the mixer's cue but in the future I might sell the rest of the equipment including the mixer and how can I work then? I have read, unfortunately not tested, that the headphone plug in the U46 gives a mixed signal of both channels. Do you listen to it that way? I mean if I press the cue button can I hear the master and cue and if the cue is not active doo I hear the master only? How do you guys mix?

Greetings from a very happy guy :D
