crap sound quality

Postby djnath on 03 Jul 2010, 17:09

hey guys,
i need help!!!... when i use my mixvibes DVS mk2 program simply just as a music player at home its sounds great!!!!
BUT!!! when i got to a gig and set it all up properly with my turntables etc, all i get is a crap popping/crackling sound!!!
it sounds bloody terrible!!
originally i thought it would have been my cartridges/stylus,
but then i pulled out some old records and there is no problem playing them!! so the needles arnt to bad!!
then i asked my computer wiz mate to help me and he suggested to download a sound driver!, i done that and i still have the same problem, but i think it might have improved a little as i was able to play atleast 2 songs with mixvibes at my last gig....
if any one could please help me with this problem it will be really appreciated!!!
thank you!!

Hello,

first of all some tips:

1.) viewtopic.php?f=207&t=11532

2.) USE the latest ESI driver AND use it ALWAY at the same usb port!!!

3.) Always use an external power adapter for your laptop because if you are using the internal battery most laptops switch to a power saving mode

4.) Tell us more about your hardware (laptop)

And for shure tell us if the problem still exists if you followed all above listed steps.

Greetings and a nice weekend,

Steve

Don't worry, if it is an actual modell it has enough power

[PC] [WIN XP, VISTA, SEVEN] U46MK2 v3.0

That is the latest driver. You can use this one OR the ASIO4ALL. I tested both and in my opinion the esi driver is better because you get a control panel. With the ASIO4ALL I had to control everything throughout the windows audio preferences.

We will ;) Just reply in this topic and we will get it solved :)

Greetings,

Steve

P.S.: If you are no computer wiz you should ask your friend if he can help you out with your laptop's optimization. This is totally essential!!!!!!

You could try using ASIO4ALL.

Once installed, set the ASIO buffer to 512 samples. This is a good figure to start with. If you go to low with this figure then you will get audio glitches and problems. This is your problem it sounds like to me ;)

You could also go into Windows device manager and disable you WiFi adaptor. This is a known device that causes audio problems, same as any webcams that maybe installed on the laptop, disable that too.

Finally you could try this little tool

http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

Download it and run it whilst you have DVS7 open. The bars you see should be all green, if you have any red bars, this means that you may have a device or driver that is misbehaving, and may be causing you poor sound.

You should try your gig setup at home to make a blank try.

Have you turned your WiFi off or disabled the WiFi card in "Device Manager"?

This causes small audio glitches :(

There is no universal settings : in all depend on hardware, softwares installed and user feel.
