can't register serial number

i bought a ION discover Cross setup from target for my son to use and get used to as i am a mobile DJ. It works great but i cant seem to register the software. keeps telling me that is is invalid. The package was complety sealed and i have the orginal number on the back of the cd package. what am i doing wrong ?
