DIFFERENCE IN AUDIO CONFIG / Cross

Postby daniel clark on 25 Apr 2010, 06:46

  using asio 4all ,multi sc highlighted/active, Sound blaster (internal) 7.1,and usb sound card ( from home), in the Cross demo i was able to use the sound doggle to monitor the headphones, unable to get any sound out of them no matter which way i configure the audio section of perferences,,, will verfy that the sound doggle still functions(using home 7 ) will be using the 7.1 sc to monitor the headphones for now,,,curious as to why ,and maybe how to get it to function as in the Cross demo

:?: :?: sound doggle still functions fine in home 7, dont have Cross demo to test it on that, ( Deleted it 'cause i was upgrading
  went to play with Cross, loss of use of seperate channels for monitoring , switched to creative asio and have second output playing through headphones, :frown: will keep playing around to try to find out why

  reset defaults in asio4all and got back control of the internal/soundblaster 7.1   but not able to monitor using the usb sound doggle(sc) as i was in the demo version  :cool

  second day of play  had to reset defaults in asio 4all to get to play through headphones from soundblaster sc,, sound doggle (usd sc from home ) still not playing  something has changed from 7.25 demo to 7.3 . even the selection tab for output routing is missing a section, alternate dual sterio   hope every time i turn Cross on i dont have to check the config of the sound cards to check if i have headphone avaible for monitoring

   pushed back into the forefront,  just curious if any one has confirmed that the updated Cross is lacking /changed from the 1.25 demo version,,  maybe a simple thing as having Cross on one of the newer laptops with a simple multi channel sc installed :?: something akin to S B 4.1,5.1,7.1. and trying to get it to configure( using asio 4all) and the home 7 usb sound doggle (sc),,such a simple/basic set up,,  even better if you could configure it using any installed sc that is asio4all compatable and the usb sound dogle,  so all you would have to carry out is a laptop ,usb sc and a pair of mini plug headphones

Hey Dan.
I think someone else recently was having the same problems with his SB usb dongle not working at the same time as another sound card....

Anyways, could you just use the 7.1 internal card SB;
as it has multiple outputs (3 X 2 stereo outs(Frnt, Middle,Rears) + 1XSub out) so thats three stereo outs you could use.
Would make more sense latency wise if you have the option to do it this way, and a lot easier to set up ;)
Cheers

As far as you can give your soundcard asio capabilities, Cross have no problem handling it.

   well Mr S here is the post pushed back to the top of the list, most of the info is there, in my convuluted way of explaining things, simply said i had the Cross demo installed(1.25 :?: ),and had asio 4all, paired the two sound cards together thru asio and used the home sound doggle sc to monitor the head phones, when i upgrade to version 1.32 thru the download shop the audio config doesnt play the sound doggle ,not shure why ,

This one, is a big one !

It is a bug, but a very special bug. When you are using soundcard with so many outputs, your dongle is very far into the list and guess what : it doesn't work.

We have tried with less outputs and the dongle was working.

Nice find, added to the bug list.
EDIT : on older version you could choose to switch on/off any inputs/outputs into Cross.

  took me great efforts to get Cross config to use just the installed sc and the simple sound doggle, to monitor, main reason for going the upgrade route, because i could hear the mix  thanks for the confirmation and Cross is still usable using the multi channel sc, my thoughts was when /if get laptop, a simple set up is very possible,
