Is this a bug, or has it been removed only to be used in Vfx?

Only for Vfx seems to be the good answer.

Hi Wazza,

In fact Producer maybe removed from the catalogue list. It is a hard decision to take but there is some logic to do it.
It doesn't concern only the marketing but the way the software is built by Mixvibes & who is doing what.
What is sure: This is the last free update for Producer after 5 years of distribution through the name DVS Pro in 2005 to Producer in 2008.
About video we have now a working product done for: Vfx. Today it's only a bunddle whith a controller but that might change. Then it will be possible to offer upgrade conditions to the new software.
DVS Ultimate is the best DVS launched since 2004 by Mixvibes. It has most of Producer functions but no video.
You can always keep a previous version to get video with Producer but if you want to specialise in video the Vfx solution is for you.
The public price for the new DVS Ultimate is the most competitive for a full DVS solution... 149€ street price... sound card, records & cable included. (see Mixware for US / Canada prices)
For those Producer owners who are only interested by audio, free updates of DVS Ultimate should be available for the next releases.
Be sure wazza that the team is concerned by leaving advantages to previous Producer owners & that we want to keep our users happy.

Update DVS 7.4 RC1 & releases notes
Update as a release candidate:

A Release Candidate (RC) is an update that has received beta testing but still needs confirmation from the community to be validated into an official update. We are calling on your help to validate future RC updates into official updates.
We ask you to install these versions in separate folders on your hard drive so you can downgrade to the previous version if you wish. We also strongly advise you only use these versions for personal use and not in a public or professional situation. The Official release is always available for your performances.
We also ask you to report all bugs and issues in the RELEASE CANDIDATE forum so we can fix these: viewforum.php?f=313

You didn't own DVS Ultimate so you can't have DVS Ultimate. What you can have is the DVS 7.4rc update.

I don't know why you think this would make Producer users happy
Producer users like me who have payed for DVS and then payed a up-grade to Producer....only to be force back to DVS..

DVS-U is not a up-grade from pro but a down-grade.... with no video , no 4 decks time code vinly control & no 16 decks

I feel like I'v payed twice & in 4 years later, in the end got, half

I'm with wazza on this one! I payed for DVS Pro when it was back in the days of 6.3.x. Sure it's come a long way, and because of it the team was able to produce two spin-off projects (one new engine and the other a spin-off of the ever popular Producer series). It irks me as well to think that your kind of sandwiched inbetween Ultimate and Cross (Both which currently ONLY support audio) or shelling out $799 for a MIDI controller and a program that only differs slightly from our beloved DVS-PRO series.

IMHO, what should happen is that those of us who have been with DVS for a while and contributed to the forums, should have the option to upgrade to Ultimate at a significantly reduced price (w/o MIDI Controller). Though the thought of repaying for the software again is quite a disappointment, as wazza pointed out, but looking fat it from the standpoint of funding future research and development... it wouldn't be so bad, as long as we the consumers are taken care of.

about Vfx
and a program that only differs slightly from our beloved DVS-PRO series.

Just add two years & a half work for one engineer - Tony - most about the video functions. It's a strong investment for a little company like Invibes...
About DVS Ultimate
DVS-U is not a up-grade from pro but a down-grade.... with no video , no 4 decks time code vinly control & no 16 decks

There are 4 decks time code & 2 MIDI drivers, the same sampler, vst effects... Do you know many users of Producer using more than 4 channels at the same time? Limited to the audio features DVS Ultimate isn't a downgrade, isn't an upgrade from Producer but it's a warranty that engineers will continue to follow & develop for
our beloved DVS-PRO series.

As Video in DVS PRO is weak compared to Vfx it has been removed.
we want to keep our users happy.

I don't know why you think this would make Producer users happy
Producer users like me who have payed for DVS and then payed a up-grade to Producer....only to be force back to DVS..

Excepts for video there are no real downgrade of the functions.
This end of Producer open the door to an upgrade to Vfx when the software will be sold without it's controller & you can still use all previous versions of Producer for video if you wish. I don't think the end of Producer is an happy news for the users but I know that Mixvibes is able to produce the good news to put a smile back!
