the left track sound is saturated

Postby Fullof on 05 Dec 2020, 18:38

Hello,

I recently plugged my U46MK2 card back into my PC.

My PC is running under windows 10.
I installed the U46 and ASIO4ALL driver and Cross 3.4.3 to use the timecode vinyl.

I had no problems for one week. Everything worked well.
Then I had to touch a setting but I couldn't figure out what and since then the sound of the left track is saturated.
And sometimes it was impossible to calibrate the vinyl.

I uninstalled and reinstalled but the problem persists.

I tried with the Cross 4 demo and same problem.
I tried different sample rates but it doesn't change anything.

When I play the same music on the right track controlled by the vinyl the sound is not saturated.

No effect is applied to the track.

My turntable has no problem, the sound is normal with a classical vinyl.

Do you have an idea?

I have put a capture of the software and the asio card in advanced settings.

//////////// FR VERSION

Bonjour,

Merci d'avance !

You may want to check which driver is active. In some situations MS replaces it by a MS default one in W10.

Audio Routing is OK?

What happens if you Cross the audio wires (might the tt be the cause). In addition Cross the tt so the cable can be excluded or not..

Is the headphone cue open and send to the wrong output?

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Thank you for your response,

I finally managed to get a normal volume but using line input.

The turntable works perfectly
But it's a vinyl turntable, it seems weird to me to have to use the line input.

Another problem (probably solved):
When I wanted to record my session I realised that there was some noise. My usb cable is very old and so are the RCA cables.

I'll order new and shielded ones.

If you have to use phono or line depends on the tt output.

Phono is less 'loud' than Line. So somewhere between the needle and the soundcard an amplifier has to increase the volume. Some tt have this build in, others don't.
Most important is to never send a line output to a phono input as this might blow the input (technically it's a voltage difference: appx 0.005 for phono <> 0.3 for Line).
This also relates to possible disturbance in the transmission. So if possible use Line output over phono output.

To make it more complex: there is also a difference in esp. bass sounds. This may make yo want to choose which of the amps in the channel suits your needs best (amp in tt or PC or in sme setup than additional preamp.
