little technique(brief and general): A mic delivers a very low volume electrical signal due to a vibrating membrame that is by magnetism changed into electrical.
This has to be amplified to line level to be able to use it.
For Cross it does not matter what signal it is. It will use the signal you tell it to use.
The remaining issue is that you need to have a strong (line) signal and a routing to Cross In.
You could just give it a try and use the amplification in Cross Input settings. If it sounds OK you have what you want. If volume OK, bad sound you could try using EQ.
Getting mic sound right is not easy, especially in a bigger setup. And be aware that most mics have mono signal.
If you start with low volume you technically will have a hard time breaking anything.
Wireless mics often deliver higher volume (because they are powered) mostly still not line level.
