Purpose of reg(RegisterLogic1)?

Postby wolko on 23 Apr 2019, 20:21

Hi,

What are they for and what can I do with them?

I looked at the MIDI Mapping for the Reloop Terminal Mix 4 and it seems like they just light up an LED when a Button is pressed.

Thanks a lot!

With MIDI mapping you have the ability to assign more than one command to a button or knob.

Most MIDI commands in Cross have of course the command in the input section and an output in the output section to light up and LED. However, there are some command that do not have and output section but you may still want to light up and indicator in your controller to let you know that something is active or to light up when a specific value is activated in Shift logic selector.

Let us assume (not true) that the Play/Pause command did not have an output to light up the Play button in your controller but you still want an indication when play is active.

In that case you would map the Play/Pause button to the correct address and channel and would also map a Registerlogic command to that button.

Know you can map an output to the registerlogic command that would light up the LED.

Another example.
Shift logic commands have output capability, when you use ModShiftLogic you can assign for a specicic LED to come on when the selected ModShiftLogic is active.

That is not the case with the Shift Logic selector,. It has no output.
So you can't tell when a specific value for shift logic is active.

So know let us assume that you have two buttons assigned to activate the Shift selector to value 1 and the other button to Shift selector value 2.

After mapping they are functional but give no indication of which one is active.

So to get and indication you would map Register logic 1 along with Shift Selector value 1 and Register logic 2 along with Shift Selector value 2.

Know map the output of Register logic one and 2 to the desired LED.

End results is that you mapped Shift Selector commands (that have no indicator output) to perform the function. And Register Logic command (which have output) to give you the desired indication when a specific Shift selector value is active.

Hope that helps
