Hello, i`m pretty sure these are noob questions, but I just want to be clear about it...
I´m running Cross 3.3.11 on a Windows machine with the U46MK2 Soundcard and Timecode Vinyl. Usally I want to connect to 2 Turntables and an external mixer (club setup).

Here are the questions(I just couldn`t figure it out with the manual):
When I have to use a 4 (or more) channel mixer but only need 2 channels, wich Routing-Modus do I have to use?? External Mixer or External Mixer Cue?? I can`t really spot the differnce between them.
The other question is: What is the best setting when using Cross & Timecode in a club...Software output on 100%?? Treshold -40dB ok, or should i use different values?

I was running with "external mixer Cue" regardless what mixer I had to use, but I had some strange problems lately.

I hope my english is good enough that you can understand my question

Hi,
the difference between external mixer and external mixer cue is the way you will manage your cue. with external mixer, you'll have to cue on the physical mixer (with the switches and pots, and your phones pluged into the mixer), and you won't be able to use the monitor fonction in Cross.
With external mixer cue, you'll have to set a third output on the sound card (the phones output, and plug your phones into it rather than to the mixer). you can then use the monitor fonction (or preview, i don't remember), in Cross, on the right side of the screen.

Volume out on Cross is not that important, as you can often compensate on the power amp. thresold setting is a bit more tricky. If set too low, the time code is more ''responsive'', particulary at low speeds (like for a drag scratch), but Cross is more prone to have strange behavior, because it pick up more of the rumble and bass with the timecode (particulary on big PA system, like in a club). I use to calibrate the timecode once i'm hooked up, and then test it with PA set like for the event. if there is a problem, i raise the thresold slider on both decks.

Most straightforward setting is external mixer. The sound of the two turntables is sent to two input channels on the mixer and as such it behaves just like the turntables would without the sound card in the chain. You hit cue button on the mixer to listen to it in your headphones, just as you would with regular vinyl or CDJs connected directly.

As for settings for DVS. Take the defaults as a starting point. I do very little DVS, but have heard that the defaults will fit most of the time. Just do the calibration proces everytime and you should be good to go.
