Airplaying to external video display (Mac)

Before I get started, I am using OS X El Capitan on a Macbook Pro. I do have a MIDI controller, but I don't think that's important.

I just recently bought Cross DJ from the app store, and I have been playing with the video mixer. When you click the "toggle external display" button in the software, it just blows the video up into fullscreen. I was wondering if it is possible to have the video output play in fullscreen (preferably with audio) on an airplay device (for example my Apple TV), while I can still see the software normally on my macbook display.

I'm not a Mac user, so can only provide a general reply.

If you add a second monitor to your macbook before you start Cross (DJ) the output will go to the 2nd screen.

I'm not fully sure if Airplay will work. If I'm right airplay needs/uses a delay of upto 2 seconds. If you're DJ/vj-ing you'll find this a terrible delay. A delay of appx 0.5s aleady makes it feel unresponsive.

The hind for using a second screen to make pure video available was great! In corporation with a capture card that has a THRU option, I can connect a second screen AND capture me video scratching in OBS Studio! Great stuff for streaming!
