How do i record a mix with Xone 23:c and Crossvibes LE?

Hi,

I've been reading every post on this forum and searching the internet frantically, but nothings helping me.

I'm trying to record a mix from my Xone 23:c, used with two technics SL210s and timecoded vinyl. i understand i cannot record the mix straight off the Cross LE software using the external mixer.

But how am i to do it with audacity? I have an rca to jack plugged in from the mixer's record output into my Macbook Pros audio jack input/output.

I do not seem to have an option in audacity to select the jack input, yet do have the option to select the Xone 23:c !? I'm very confused. I think the softwares awful for recording, and shouldn't be so difficult to do with the pair hardware (the xone 23:c)! It should be configured in someway.

Not to familiar with Mac.. So just trying to suggest..

You could try record with Cross. (you understood properly that external mixer doesn't allow for recording from the Cross decks)
1. For Mac you can 'aggregate' soundcards somehow in system setup.
2. In Cross Preferences > Audio select the input for Aux
3. In Cross preferences > Recording select Aux only


It may be that also for Audacity you have to aggregate the soundcards first. Even though used by different programs. Could be Mac uses Soundcard different from Win at a technical level.

Audicity is one of the leading programs in recording and editing... But it has a lot of features which initially seem unneeded. But once you start editing and brush up the recording you'll get more familiar with the why and how of manipulating sound.

I'm aware aggregated is available and i know how to, but which soundcards am i to aggregate?

Also, there isn't an option to select input for Aux on Cross...

It seems ridiculous that Cross LE doesn't have a function for recording mixes straight off the external mixer?

The xone 23 is able to with traktor soundcard and software... i'm struggling to see how this is different?

Why can't the master mix be recorded? this defeats the whole point of having a record option!?

The features available in an Cross LE version depend on the wishes of the manufacturer that bundles Cross with its product. So for different bundles LE can be different in behavior.

Regarding aggregate... I can just assume that you can see which sc are available... As mentioned I (nor Daniel) are Mac users.

You could try the Cross Demo (not Cross Free) to see what can be setup in the full version (for a limit period). This may help you in finding if features are left out in the LE for the Xone.

explain how tractor is able too do this ,, might be set up differently than Cross ,, by the link and also instruction in the manual ,, Cross and previous DVS system ,were not set up to record through the software if routed to external mixer,,the mixed signal never return to Cross software ,,audio output run to your sound system ,, the tc signal get routed to software to control the tracks,,,so no way for Cross to record the mixed/master out ..since it go through a external mixer ,,
