For Windows you need asio4all to be able to combine soundcards. For mac you to 'aggregate' the soundcards.

Asio4all. Com to download from. Install. Start Cross. Preferences - audio. Select asio4all. Select settings. In the asio4all menu now select the wanted soundcard and channels. You have to click one of the buttons bottom right to be able to select multiple soundcards.

If you have 'dropouts' you have to increase the audio size buffer (latency).

Changing soundcards can have some influence but definitely not a way to start.

- In asio4all deselect all channels you don't use as every channel takes CPU. It depends on the soundcard driver if there are any selection options for channels as some just allow at sc level.

- Initially it may be you haven't to many tracks analyzed. So they analyze while be loaded, which requires CPU capacity. So best to analyze in advance.

- Some more optimization could be done. One important thing is to disable energy saving options as these require start up time.
