I have following question:
I often play at a friends bar, where he has pair of turntables. I read in the Cross documentation that every sound interface can use control vinyl with Cross. I have a Vestax VCI 400 - can i connect it to the turntables and use it. Or do i need preamps - beacause the VCI doesen't have any...?

If your controller doesn´t any have Preamp you need Turntables with line out.

It will work with any sound card that has INPUTS. Typically the controllers will have sound card outputs only. Or just one input (so you can route aux/mic channels). Effectively you will need to have a controller that has at least two sound card inputs and that supports routing those inputs as individual channels to the PC.

The VCI has two line-in level inputs that I believe are direct-thru, so you should theoretically be able to go DVS with it. You will need some preamp/RIAA correction units.

At that point you might consider getting a separate sound card with phono inputs instead and hook it directly to your laptop.
