iTunes library not loading properly

hi, i got Cross DJ 3.3.10 running great on my macbook pro, using the iTunes library off an external HD.

after running for some hours - then i quit the app to get video running too which was great. but at some point the contents of the iTunes library suddenly wasn't ok, the location/directory button was definitely pointing to the right .xml file on the HD but there was no music files in there as far as Cross DJ was thinking.it won't reload the library at all now. i can't seem to reset the prefs either. can anyone help?

First upgrade Cross to the latest version (3.3.11).
It has become pretty common that new iTunes or OSX versions require modifications in Cross (and many other) software due to non backwards compatibility of Apple development.

hi Rojec,

ok its not easy to upgrade to 3.3.11, because there's no such option as 'upgrade'. i had to buy it again from the app store! (my first purchase of Cross DJ was via the webshop/share it website.

then once installed it still does this library problem.

please can anyone describe how to delete the preferences, they're not in the normal place for this on mac (/user/library/preferences..)

i do find Mixvibes to be pretty poor in handling these issues, i mean the app works well as a DJ app, but as far as customer ease of other actions like preferences and buying upgrades is terribly under developed.

hi again,

yes, after i installed 3.3.11, full video was disabled even though i had paid for it earlier in v3.3.10 !!

so i looked at your FAQ about the 'restore' link in the video settings, and in version 3.3.11 the 'restore' link doesn't do anything, i leave it for ages (as the FAQ suggest a little while to go online) but nothing actually happens, thats how i ended up making the second purchase for full video because that button does actually work!

ok finally all fixed, full video, v3.3.11 installed. iTunes library.xml working properly...(fingers crossed for restart). thanks for your patience

ok this is nonsense.
after all that above, i have just quit and it crashed on quit, and now on restart, the library is all wrong again. it sees the iTunes library.xml, on the correct HD, but theres no music or playlists there. i try to get it to re scan or browse for the correct .xml file, it appears to do 'something' (progress bar for very short time, then again nothing in the library.

can someone please show me where the prefs are kept for this app!?


UPDATE!

if i go between an old library and the one i want, the app loads it the second time, so at least i can work around that and understand the situation.

only Cross DJ 3.3.10 works though - v3.3.11 crashes on quit, so never remembers the prefs

:eek: seems to be a hard endevor ,, info needed,,os and version ,,i tunes version and also if you can find a crash report ,,and post it on fourm that will help the dev team/teck support ,, :cool:

i will keep using 3.3.10 because it doesn't crash on quit, and if the library isn't the right .xml, i can point to it quite easily, just doing elimination trials now to see if 3.3.10 still remembers the library location. cheers man

ok for anyone who can assist with this...

Cross DJ 3.3.10 on my MacBook Pro does not remember what iTunes library i was using - in this case an external HD with iTunes folder on it with all my mp3s and mp4s. this is something i have to reset every time i launch the app. (Cross DJ 3.3.11 crashes on quit so i have a hunch that it also cannot store where my library is located) so i'm staying with 3.3.10 for now until i hear from an authorised Mixvibes person.

its really not good. i mean I've spent plenty ca$h on them now... and not much help in return, no one has info on where these prefs are stored. starting to lose faith due to the lack support at this company.


please help.

Maybe you have an issue with file rights at the mixvibes.settings file. It's located in your user profile at your Mac (sorry not a mac user). You can delete this file once to try (manually as uninstall doesn't remove this).

Pretty quick desicion for lack of support... Support can only be given after issues are reported.

Most settings are saved at quit of program, so if this doesn't work properly settings aren't saved.

3.3.11 has fixes for several issues, e.g. for support of Yosemite. For this 3.3.10 isn't being supported no more.
