Hello guys,
I have Mixvibes DVS since several years and I recently had to format my system. (on another computer)
I don't want anymore to connect this computer on the web, and allowed it to Mixvibes only.
Mixvibes wants a code for activation. I sent a mail to the adress the software gave me but no response. Maybe because I sent it from another mail account ?
Hoping I will soon play again with my turntables...
Thanks,

Hi RoJeC,
Thx for your answer.
I don't want to upgrade to Cross DVS : i didn't played music for years and I want to have fun with what I already own before spending money for anything.
I know DVS is an old software and I understand it is not supported anymore. Nevertheless, when I buy a software (or anything else), there is no question about a limited period of use.
I'm quite sure that the internet activation is still working, so this software can still run...
I want to contact Mixvibes employee as you said but how contact them but by the forum ?
I hope one of them will soon read me...

Hey Vito,
It's the users responsibility to keep copies of product keys and licensing information.
Why don't you try getting some support from Microsoft for a windows XP system or an Office 2003 installation.
Frankly, if you expect companies to provide support 5 years AFTER a product went out of support cycle (End Of Life), you are a bit misguided.
Actually when you "buy" software, you don't buy the actual software, you usually buy the RIGHT to use that software for the period it's supported and as much longer as it works on your computer.
In this case you choose to reinstall your computer and now expect the software manufacturer to support your 5 year after EoL product.
I can understand if you had bought a 5.000 euro something, but this is a low cost software package. It seems you expect 5.000 worth of extended service for a 50 euro piece of software that you bought a long time ago.
Clearly it's your choice not to upgrade to the latest version as it's a 129 euro investment, but I don't think it's fair on Mixvibes to blame them for your current situation and expect them to solve it for you for free.
Another thing is that DVS/Vinyl has a very high cost of maintenance. Timecode vinyls and needles will cost you between 80-100 euro a month. Suddenly the money for DVS version of Cross isn't all that high, about the same as 1 1/2 month of vinyl cost.
I am no way associated with Mixvibes by the way, I am just a regular user like many of us here.
This was just my personal opinion.

Hi Vintage,
You took some time for helping me and I thank you for that. So, I will do the same.
I know what your talking about but I'm not agree with your position.
I'm looking for a software activation without connection because the software proposes me this.
I kept all "copies of product keys and licensing information" I had, I have my serial number, my installation disc... I would understand you said this to someone who is looking for his serial for example but here it makes no sense for me.
I'm quite sure that I can still activate this softxare with a connection. If I'm wrong, please tell me. But if I'm not, it shows that using this softxare is still possible.
I understand that support is no more provided for technical questions, updates, patches, etc... for this version but I still should be able to setup it.
When I buy a software, I buy the right to use it, I'm agree (license), but not for a limited period. Support and using are not the same question.
Imagine a car who needs an activation (with internet by the brand who sold it) before any start of the engine to check sexurity matters (it is what activation is made for).
And one day, your car dealer tells you that the car is still working, but activation is no more possible and you have to buy a new car. Would you ?
I don't reproach to Mixvibes there is no support anymore.
I reproach there is no more activation without internet, although the mail adress provided for that is still working (I don't received an error message or something like that). The only answers I got here is form users and not from them directly.
I just wanted to setup my old version I bought (and not rented.............. even for years, even what you say), and if I had fun with it, I was ready to upgrade no new version. But that's the past.
Now I feel like I'm forced to upgrade, so I won't do it. You said it's my choice, but it seems on the contrary that everything is done in order to make me upgrade, so where is the REAL choice ?
Having spent enough time for this question today,
Bye

Vito, try the online activation and disconnect the system afterwards? There isn't much risk in doing that...
In defense of vito, a ton of shops are still selling DVS Ultimate...

Hi Tbone,
I am actually doing what you suggested to me.
It's true that there isn't many chances to have a problem like that. It wasn't my first idea, but I changed my mind.
Nevertheless this situation upsetted me, and moreover if this software is still sold in many shops...
Happy to see that there isn't only capitalism soldiers here !
