It will be hard to determine if it was actually Cross or maybe some other process. Nevertheless if you have audio dropouts occasionally you can slightly increase the audio buffer size of the sound card.
This will reduce cpu load slightly.
In Cross audio has priority over video and has priority over thse GUI (Cross interface)
