Bunch of Issues

Hi all, hope you're having a better day than I am......

Just getting back into CrossDJ. A couple of years ago I opted to try another software package. The only way I could even get CDJ to run was by starting it in the Terminal application. I had a boatload of other issues so I flipped to Traktor.
But here I am back because I need very simple video playback. I have 3 other video packages but I don't need all the bells and whistles (and lately BUGS) so I looked at the MixVibes site again and it looked like a lot of work has been done but here I go again with a list of issues. I'm using 3.3.10 and would like to use my Traktor Kontrol S2.

SPECS:
iMac core 2 - 3.09 gHz - 12GB RAM OSX 10.8.5, MOTU UltraHybrid mk3, Maschine Mikro 2.2, DMXIS, LaunchPad, LaunchControl, LaunchKeyMini, iPad2.

Here's a list of the most glaring issues I'm having right now:
Can't get CDJ to talk to the MOTU. Sound and playback work just fine with plain iMac audio but sounds like crap. Need the DSP inside the MOTU (be REALLY nice to be able to drag the wires around in the Audio/Routing window.

Doesn't recognize my Kontrol S2, it sees all the other devices but not the Kontrol. Yes I have the Kontrol in pure MIDI mode (Shift-Shift). Other software VirtualDJ, Serato, djay all see the Kontrol.

I'm missing something with the mapping editor. I can't edit mappings. I've duplicated Kontrol S4 (no lock icon) but can't edit.

Those are the most urgent issues. There are others but mostly dusting the cobwebs off.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks,

Joe B

ps Anyone have a working Kontrol S2 mapping?

THX jb

Hi, welcome back,

If you use drivers that are only 32-bit, you have to use Cross in 32-bit mode. Cross 64 bit is rewritten to be really 64 bit (and not 32bit compiled as 64bit).

This may show your missing device.

Editing mapping... Select the mapping you want to edit. Go to function you want to map. move/touch the control, set parameters.....
This is the theory; hope I put in a step you didn't do...

Cross DJ doesn't support HID. They have to be set in MIDI mode or you could upgrade to Cross (Full).
The latter you can test with the Demo version (not Free version). One advantage is that it also has 2*4 video sample pads and no watermark.

Hope I could give it some improvement... Not sure if it answers all. So please let's know what the remaining issues are.

Thanks RoJec, I appreciate your input.

Opened Cross DJ in 32 bit mode. Still no controller.

I did purchase the full version AND the video plug-in. Funny thing is when I'm running CDJ the video doesn't come up watermarked but in Preferences it asks if I want to buy the video plug-in but everything seems to work. The serial number is blank. When I load the old version of CDJ I get the bigger splash screen AND a smaller one that says Video, v1.1.2.

Had several crashes when trying to get the MOTU configured. Still trying to make CDJ usable but time (to first gig of the season) is running out.

I'll keep you in the loop.

Thanks again!

Hey Daniel,

Yes I am registered. My serial number is in my control panel which also has my list of equipment (and doesn't appear here for some reason. I purchased the software about 2 years ago. Before I posted I looked for Kontrol S2 profiles and saw one other post about the S2 (ask for a profile to be done) but as I get deeper into researching the issues here I think it's going to be on the NI side as I have an old Pioneer DDJ-WeGO which does hook up and control CDJ just fine. I just have all my MIDI equipment on a "pedalboard" I built and I'm not real thrilled with having to pull the S2 out and put the WeGO in. I have 8 USB devices on the board. 6 (plus 2 which are for my iPhone, used for a live video feed using AirBeam and a Syphon server and an iPad which runs my DMX lighting via an Ad-Hoc net).

If there is any other information youu need from the admin side feel free to PM me.

Best,

Joe B
