Imported playlist not in order

Postby Mike de Laat on 10 Jan 2015, 02:15

Hello support,

I use Cross DJ 3.3.9 on Mac OS X 10.7.5 and have the problem that when I import playlists they are not in order. I use Beatunes 4.0 (latest version) to create playlists but they get imported in the wrong sort order. I tried all different formats to no avail. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Thanks for the great software and support!
Kind regards,
DJ 2Takes/Mike.

Unfortunately this is not considered a bug.....

The more people ask the more chance of having the design changed.

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Hi RoJeC,

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately the programmers of Cross & I disagree in considering if it is a bug since the order of tracks in the playlist is what counts for me as a DJ. If you create your playlists in other software such as Rekordbox, Beatunes or whatever it doesn't make sense to have to reorder 25+ tracks manually all the time.

How difficult is it to read a table of tracks (directories/files) in the order of appearance when opened in a text editor and leave it in that order when importing? Hope more people want this fixed as soon as possible. Thanks.
Kind regards,
DJ 2Takes/Mike.

Hi support,

I just tested version 3.3.10 (Mac OS X) and importing a playlist in the .m3u8 format is still not in the order of lines/tracks that are in the file. What is the status at the moment? I would like to get this fixed as I prepare my playlists in Beatunes and it takes a lot of time to rearrange the tracks in Cross.
Kind regards,
DJ 2Takes/Mike.

For everybody out there having the same problem of importing a playlist on Mac OS X in Cross DJ (all latest versions of Cross up until 3.3.10!) and ending up with tracks in the wrong order I have this workaround:

Import the playlists in Rekordbox. Then sync Rekordbox with Cross et voila: all your playlists are in the order they were meant to be... ;)

Hi,

I haven't tried beaTunes yet, but I fail to reproduce it while importing a m3u8 (or m3u).

Just in case you missed it, you need to sort by "#" column in Cross ("# (Order)").

Seeing how many you are reporting this, I guess there IS something fishy in Cross.
Please send me an example m3u file that isn't sorted correctly after import so I can find out what's wrong, and fix it. (I won't be needing the actual audio files).

I'll look into the beaTunes import after the m3u issue is cleared.

Hi TinouCAS,

Thanks for helping out. I will attach 2 files in M3U & M3U8 format (export from Beatunes) and hope you can find out what goes wrong. When I import the files in Rekordbox on my Mac OS X 10.8.5 MBP all tracks are in order.

Have a good weekend

Also having a problem along the same lines. With the new version of iTunes the playlists are not importing into Cross in the same order that they are in iTunes.

This just happened for me, so I wonder if anybody else with the latest version of iTunes is having the same problem.

Can't find an older post on this but if I remember right playlist are created in order of the tracks as in the Cross collection. New tracks added at the end.

Not sure of this.. But might be of help when digging into it....

I used to be able to order the tracks on a playlist using iTunes. Then open Cross, go to the iTunes icon, update the content by re-scanning iTunes and the playlist would be there in the same sort order as in iTunes. Then drag the selected playlist and drop it into the collection icon. A message would come up asking to merge the same name playlist or replace them. I would choose replace and the playlist would then be in the collection in the same order as in the iTunes playlist.
