IMPORTANT Cross 3.3.8 'lagging' on tracks

everytime i play a track, my software seems to be lagging. the track starts playing normally then it will start going crackly and playing super slow for no reason. any ideas? i've tried diferrent using both outputs, diff speakers, reinstalling the software, checked my computer. any other ideas? playing my residency on friday night and i cant have any mess ups for it

This description does fit a problem with the latency of your soundcard. Try increasing latency.
First take a big step (double) if issue is gone you might go down again towards current value, but stay above it.

Are you using an asio driver (if Win).

how do i increase latency? is that to do with buffer size? and i dont believe i am using a driver, can i just download one online?

Both are on the audio tab of preferences.
Latency and buffersize are "the same".
in the list you have the drivers of the soundcards; often just referred to as soundcard.
External soundcards of some quality usually are class compliant, which means the driver is installed upon connecting.

If you don't have an asio driver you should install the asio4all driver from asio4all.com. This driver will help in getting low latency, which translates in high responsiveness to your actions.
You also can use this to combine soundcards in one virtual soundcard.

If you have more questions, please also provide some info on your wanted setup. This would make it easier to give info for your situation.
