Track does not start playing wih timecode CD (Cross 3.2.0)

Hi all,

I installed Cross 3.2.0 and I’m not able to play my tracks with the timecode CD’s. Under the Vinyl/CD tab (preferences), both timecode CD’s are configured correctly (100 quality for the two decks) and the checkboxes “Control Deck A/B” are checked. Also the timecode activity indicator next to the tracks’s waveform is reacting correctly. However when I press the PLAY button on my CDJ-1000, the loaded track does not start playing.

I also noticed CUE and SYNC buttons under the waveform while in Cross 2.6.0 there are the Relative/Absolute/Flexible buttons. When I click the CUE button (mouse) the track starts playing. I have the impression that Cross is not in “timecode” mode (I thought checking “Control Deck A/B” should be enough), perhaps I missed another setting?

Cross 2.6.0 (installed on the same Win 7 laptop) is working perfectly but I don’t see any difference between the configuration of 2.6.0 and 3.2.0.

Any help is appreciated.

Roel

Hi Roel. Not to familiar with tc. From what I've seen nothing changed in settings between the versions.
What I've seen in the forum is mainly the suggestions to update the drivers and the firmware for CDJ's.

Might be worthwhile to check this and add the info for when someone more knowledgeable replies to you.

Ronald,

I'm using the timecode CD's with the U46MKII interface. The latest drivers of the U46 are installed (it's working fine with Cross 2.6.0 on the same PC). I don't think my Pioneer CDJ-1000 need a firmware update (not using HID): it's playing the timecode CD's fine, Cross 3.2.0 reports 100% quality in the Vinyl/CD settings. Therefore I think the timeocde setup is technically OK.

It's just that the loaded track in the deck doesn't react to the operations on the CDJ1000 as if Cross is still in "MIDI controller" or "computer" mode. I think it's just a matter of telling Cross that it's controlled by timecode, but I don't know how...

thanks
Roel

Some suggestions (again no idea what I'm talking about.. just read somewhere and will take you a few seconds only to try out...)
if you hoover over the moving wave area in each deck, does a box with a V appear or does it say CD?
Also something with not using Hybrid mode ... maybe...

Ronald,

Thanks for the tip, I was hovering over the activity/cover area (as mentioned in the manual). For 3.x the selection box is indeed located in the waveform. Problem solved!
