Hi.
If I wish to record (rip vinyl)....and hear it out of my headphones/amps speakers at same time....then how do i set it up according to illustrations of my gear I'm attaching as i went by the book(User guide) for ripping vinyl using U46MK2 and i could not figure out how to set up ripping vinyl in internal mixer mode as it just sounded latent and poor sound.
Cant i just set it up to use external mixer for ripping vinyl with U46MK2?
Ive tried vinyl studio with U46Mk2 and it either under or over clips and this whole thing is just taking ages to sort out....im even thinking of having to go out and buy a NAD P4 USB now.
The U46MK2 is good for when my external mixer line inputs are connected to my U46MK2 outputs and when my mixer going from its "to main out" to" DTV/CBL"....on my amp.
Where would i connect to on my amp/mixer? if i were using another audio digital phono preamp like the NAD-P4 for sole purpose of ripping vinyl?
Then i could just use the U46MK2 and Cross timecode/Cross for just doing what it does best...the djing.

You can play records via Cross.
When clicking record button you record the record.

If your tt support Line level, select Line. In Cross Preferences | Audio select Line for the inputs. (else all phono). All switches should be line (check scoundcard).

In internal mixer select a line input

Default is recording Mix (master out). You could record per deck. By Mix you will have most options for adjusting sound.

If you plan to do a lot than try using a recorded file (rather a few) to check out your result. Specially the autogain will give you some info (if not visible then right click on field header of collection to show Gain). Don't forget to analyse. After analyse it should be around 0 (range -12 -+12). If often negative this means you put above average volume in the recording, which for vinyl usually means more disturbtion.

You could put a mixer inbetween. Basically means same setup but mixer connected to Cross (so can't be phono input level)

been on Apple support community/contacted alpine soft developer/been on here....the internet...at least i may only know what it is I'm trying to ask/explain/find out from people......regardless if i don't know the answer.
If i did i wouldn't be trawling the net and wasting so much time getting nowhere.

one last time......i ask anyone out there.....where on my amplifier does the second input from my audio interface go to.....for ripping vinyl?

My mixer goes to my amp like this....

FROM MIXER TO AMP......"TO MAIN/AMP OUT"(GOES TO DTV/CBL OUT)

That is how i get noise coming from the goddamn speakers....

I don't have TAPE OUT/REC OUT on my amp.......

.....but I have a MD/CD-R
in(PLAY) out(REC) on my amplifier.

That other input on audio interface has to go somewhere on amplifier for ripping vinyl.....the line out on audio interface goes where then....for F... sake its like trying to get blood out of a stone.

YEAH i know both decks go to inputs on U46MK2 and outputs go to line inputs on my mixer.....for djing.

But i want to record vinyl using vinyl studio.....

In any setup it is all about getting signals to line level first (mic or phono preamps).
A mixer or amp uses this line level for input and most of the outputs. Only speaker out may have more energy.

For recording you can use any output. The difference is the way the output was routed. pre-fader or not. dry or wet(/mixed) and whatever more routings a mixer has.

WHen recording make sure the programm recording is the only one hookedup to the input soundchannels. When using a laptop make sure the laptop mic is off.
Recommended to not run other programs while recording, especially audio programs. And disable system sounds.

Its Ok....there were a simple diagram on the back of the NAD-P4 which illustrated its connection to the amp...etc...so i think i have an input on there somewhere anyway....or just run it to my mixers line input and leave amp where it is already connected to....see how i go as i have not actually tried it yet as I've been on the internet reading up on things....not reading "into" to much things....apparently...as now after somebody greatly assisting me in correct turntable calibration..ie:using blank vinyl record and calibrating tonearm balance/height/counterweight and anti skate method on blank vinyl....i now have all the audio/vinylphiles on the internet put fear of god(vinyl/stylus degradation!!!)...into me!

Turns out now i need and may as well go the whole hog in all things ortofon and looks like i need to get myself a digital stylus tracking force gauge.......not to mention considering also a stylus microscope....they don't even build anymore(shure)....best you luckily can get is a used one off of ebay.....or follow someones DIY advice and buy the parts to construct yourself the next best alternative....i would consider buying the parts....but I'm no good with DIY unless i were to get a very comprehensive/detailed DIY plan first and foremost as i have no idea/expertise in this field.

I also gotta shell out more $ also for comparable ortolan carts/stylus for timecode vinyl too....so I'm a long way off of doing anything just yet.

I can in the meantime look at doing something which should not ideally cost me any $.....I must say I was not impressed with the quality of the timecode medium(timecodevinyl) that came with the Cross Pack....it is very scuffed/scratched and i really don't think i should do nothing and accept this.....i think people need to sell/ship vinyl whether its traditional vinyl or timecode for that matter...ie:place in plastic inner sleeving as that is why it arrived scratched!

So....what do i do?
Contact the reseller whom i purchased from and ask for a replacement of the timecode vinyl.....i can't see there being too much a problem with this as it did most certainly arrive in this undesirable condition and as i said i should not just accept this......anyhow i will let you know how i get on.
