MIDI hex to "english"?

Postby Idan Korenblum on 27 Apr 2014, 16:41

I have a MIDI map for my controller in which they use for example, C-1, E-1, etc. In Cross I see N0, N1, etc. I guess those are two different ways of writing. Anyway to change this? Or any online convertor to translate?

It depends on the standard that your controller is using.
For example: on a Quneo controller the standard is C0= 60.
That means that MIDI note C0 corresponds to the decimal number 60.
You then have to covert decimal to hexane imam and that is the number that Cross uses for mapping.
So from the example, from MIDI note to decimal to hexadecimal.
C0=60=3C

Hope this helps!

I wish I understood this I always feel like their is a piece missing when I try and figure out such stuff, like going from a-c and missing out b lol :rolleyes: :)

Anyone no of a good learning website for beginners or recommend a book I can get to Learn this that's starts from a :lol:
I really need to learn all this and I also need to learn so I can make a controller scripts for Bitwig studio.

Any direction to learning appreciated, I have searched the web, but cant find a understandable starting point for the newbie to learn, and the things I have searched out, their are that many I get confused, what titles should I be looking for, how would I search, what would I type under my search criteria to find the relevant info, it may sound daft but as I am 44 I missed out on the school learning off course, so I don't even understand the jargon for writing "MIDI script" < and this search does not fetch me up anything ? where do I start ?

Thanks
