Help with Set-up

Good morning,

I purchased Cross 3.0 for my PC on March 17, 2014.

I am having a problem with the sound output when playing music through my connected system.

I have followed the set up videos and set the audio and MIDI IAW the information provided. When I play the music it comes out very muffled and low volume. Increasing the volume on my system does not improve the quality at all.

I am using a Denon MC6000 controller with the software. I am confident the controller is working properly and set up correctly as I have used my system and this controller with other software products I am trying out such as Virtual DJ, ProDJ Mixer, Traktor, PCDJ and I have no problem playing back music through my system with these other software programs.

I am able to play music stand alone on the PC with no problem with the volume coming out of the laptop speakers.

Any advice?

I have the software installed on a Dell Inspiron 3529 Laptop Windows 8.1 64 bit 6 GB RAM

Thank you,

Have you tried adjusting the 'MAIN' master volume on screen ?

Please provide some more info as what you have setup. If possible upload an screen capture from the Audio tab in Preferences.

General (test initial by using mouse/keyboard, controller can be connected. just trying to avoid that MIDI mapping causes wrong movements):
Make sure all knobfaders are neutral (low.mid.hig.filt)
FX's should be OFF.
preferences | Audio
select ASIO driver for denon or PC (likely there, else other driver)
set outputs (next test: shift output 2 and 1)
select Simple or Dual mode

should work now.......
Let's know if this already describes what you did.

discopex,

I was going to say "what a silly question is that" but I thought to myself "What Main Volume" I opened the program on my laptop here at work and saw the Main Master Volume knob.

I was using the gain and controller main volumes.

Since it was in the low position when I opened the program, I will have to check when I get my PC home.

Thanks for the simple and hopefully successful advice,

John

No luck with that. Sound is still muffled with heavy base and no treble. I have gone through all the various audio configurations with no luck.

I f I start up VDJ,Promix, Traktor, they all work fine and crystal clear.

Maybe reinstall the DENON ASIO Driver. This is getting old.

Thanks

John

As it works via your PC sound the Denon audio drivers are a likely cause.

Cross DJ does not change its audio signal per soundcard; it is just directed to a different 'hardware channel'.

Though your description does not fit typical latency issue (like pops), it might be worthwhile increasing the buffersize after the new driver is installed. (mostly to exclude this as a problem). Once it all works, go for a low buffersize; you'll notice when it is too low by the sound popping/dropouts.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I actually feel like a heel

The Filters were on for both tracks. I noticed that the yellow and red lights were on beside each knob. One I turned them off sound is great. Everything is working fine now.

I assumed the default settings would have everything off so I did not go the simple route.

Lessons learned.

Thanks again and sorry to waste your time with something simple as this.
