direct vs. link sync behavior

Postby analytic on 02 Mar 2014, 09:06

I recently upgraded to 3.0 from Cross 2.3.1, and I'm confused at the changes to the sync function. I'm using DVS/vinyl control and I'm unable to replicate the sync behavior in version 2. When I'm in direct sync mode I'm experiencing a lot of tempo drift; the sync only works momentarily. In linked sync the tempo stays rock steady but I'm unable to back-cue without having to constantly switch to absolute mode, as well as perpetually needing to switch master decks. Also, even with sync turned off I'm often unable to back cue to the first beat of a track. This all seems needlessly complicated.

Is there a way to set up Cross 3 to sync just like Cross 2.3.1? If not, is there a written resource that lays it all out clearly? I'm considering downgrading to 2.3.1 if I can't get this figured out...
