You can map "collection" to a hotkey, and then hit it right before you type in the search. If you wanted to search the entire library, you have to be viewing the entire library.

you could dock your playlist or smartlist in the left dock. this will shorten the work. it might be an option to have this global search but if it would be default then the search within a playlist will get many unwanted results.
I would recommend to spend part of your time on tagging tracks in Cross with what you call playlist. it wont hurt.but might give you some better feeling with the Cross power for search/grouping especially the smartlist function which when used with the column browser brings most functionality if not more at hand. this will (to my opinion) outbeat a fixed playlist approach. if you still like your current way better then feel free as Cross supports it .though maybe not to the detail you're used to.

if there would be a moment to give it a try this would be it. just add your folder information to the tags and see...

it took me a while to to get convinced that I better spend my time to flexibility of tagging versus fixed playlist with fixed locations. ... I might save you this time....

No you didn't get what you've been told.

What you've requested doesn't exist yet in Cross.
Then people try to find alternative solutions so that you can use the app in best conditions.
Why?
Because, even with great must-have suggestions, they won't be implemented within days or even weeks, so you'll have to wait in any case.

But, be sure if you react like this against people trying to help you, you won't get help/answers anymore in the future...

You are right about the same people trying to talk you through.
Please do not let this be a reason not to do suggestions.
Things do not have to be complex to be added.

The situation is that the MV team has a history of decades in developing DJ software. Basically every new version is a redesign to a certain extend, without hanging on to the past. They want to stay/become a top product. There is no competitor in the world that can use it software on as many platforms as MV can (PC/Mac/iOS/Android/Linux). :!: :!: :!: :!:

Within this picture to my honoust opinion the suggestions you did are not as basic.

Your opinion is to get certain things in, in this case my opinion is that it is better the way it works now. You provided valid arguments just as I tried to do (in a respectfull way, though I am Dutch...)

I (we) try to assist you by explaining why and how we think you'll enjoy the new possibilities even more.

...without what we (I) think are workarounds...

And in the end only UncleVibes decides...

They are not intended to sound so unappreciative of the help.

So, thank you and my apologies.

Looking forward to your next question/remark/suggestion.
Changing software that basically worked properly by some similar tool is never good for temper...

Just replaced smooth working DOS administrative software... After carefull investigation implemented. After a week we found out some show stopping missing details and had to switch and setup an other tool over the weekend... Fortunately a weekend also has 40 working hours ...

I am pretty sure you did a good choice by Cross.
Have a nice weekend
