Faulty U46Mk2 at internal USB MacBook/Maverick

Hi,
last week I updated my MacBook to Maverick and realized that the Input settings for my external soundcard U46MK2 did not work. I could only choose Input1/2 but even on this Input neither my TT nor the CD player signal was recognized.
I had the U46MK2 always connected directly to one of the two USB ports of the MacBook and it always worked fine (MacBook is powered by power supply).
After reading in the forum that other people got the soundcard working with an externally powered USB hub I tried the same and now the soundcard is working correctly.

Now my question:
Does anyone know if Maverick has some kind of USB power limit/energy saving settings? Or is this the first hint for a creeping U46MK2 failure?

Hey,

I know from the Mavericks beta page that they have done some updates and performance optimizations at the USB kernel. I had the same issue but I got it running after changing some files with the terminal and VI. But for this you need some more details about linux and special on OS X and this it is more for power users.

Christian

Hi Christian,

thanks for the answer.
Due to the fact the U46MK2 is running with the external hub I won't change anything in the depth of OSX. But perhaps Apple is coming up with a solution for high power devices or there will be some kind of app.
I guess the soundcard is not the only device needing more power than the allow at the moment.
