On Screen Mixer Layout Dependant on Audio Settings?

Hello All -

I have a question, with regards to the "look" of MixVibes Cross, now that I finally have my American Audio VMS 4.1 working 100%.

I love the "look" of the standard layout of Cross with the 4 faders and EQ knobs in the center:

But when you change the sound configuration in Cross to "external mixer", the layout of the mixer section in the center of the screen changes.

My controller requires the "external mixer" setting to be configured properly for audio, which results in only 4 level meters being displayed. I miss the faders and knobs in the center section, showing the relative position of those on the hardware controller as well.

Is there a way to change the way the "mixer" section of Cross is displayed on screen? If not, is this something that could be done for future versions of the software?

Hi,

That's not a matter of look, Cross hides these controls cause they're disabled in External Mixer Mode.
If you need to be in External Mixer Mode to work with your VMS4.1, it means the VMS4.1 is doing the mixing stuff, and then you do not need Cross to handle volumes or EQs. Then, if ever you did it, you do not need to map the channel strip controls to Cross...
To conclude, you can't have the volume fader moving on screen without having them to affect the sound, that would be a non-sense.

Best

I think I understand what you are saying, I was just wondering if there was a way for the software to "show" what the mixer was doing - more of a "heads-up" display - to keep my eyes on the screen instead of looking back an forth between the mixer and screen...

Nope, there isn't. You must choose between Internal Mixing or External Mixing :) By the way, on most of the mixers, you can't even send MIDI to Cross. "External Mixer Mode" is really made for these cases.

You could make a feature request in the dedicated section, but, to be honest, there's hardly no chance we implement something like that in the upcoming months (years?) ;)
