Hi guys,
Just come to have a quick mix and for some reason I'm seeing the following error:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15683947/error1.pngAll I have done is install 2.6 RC. I haven't changed any settings within Cross. I did re-enable my microphones in order to use Skype last week. My Windows 7 audio panels look like the following:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/156 ... ayback.pnghttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/156 ... ording.pngI've restarted my laptop, I've tried different USB ports. All no use. The power light is on on the UMCP2, the control panel says that it is connected. I've tried to use Advanced System Care 6 to shutdown unwanted processes.
Please help! Very worried my unit is broken!!

I was using 2.5 last week without any issues. I see the same message when I try to choose the UMCP2 from the dropdown menu there as well.

Some more info.
I unplugged the UMCP2, and restarted Cross. It told me to plug it back in but I pressed cancel. Went to Audio preferences and selected U-Mix Control Pro. Not sure why it was showing as an option as it wasn't plugged in. Anyway, I then get the message to plug the controller in. I do and immediately I get the error that I mention in the original post.
This smells of a massive bug. I can see two other unsolved threads on the forum. Very, very worried.
How does the warranty work on the controllers?

Hi,
Don't worry, that shouldn' be a hardware failure.
To be sure of this, have you got another app to test the driver?
Or can you download Asio4All and try to use your UMPC2 with it?
This message means the driver can't load properly cause being held by another process (another app).
I see on your screenshots, chrome is running. Did you try after having closed it? That's typically the kind of app that can hold an audio device.
Otherwise, double-check no background process that could need an audio device is running.

I've now tried the following versions and no luck
2.6 RC
2.5
2.4
2.3.1
All say the same.
I use Advanced Systemcare 6's Turbo Boost to close down all unwanted applications.
I've disabled/uninstalled/restarted laptop/re-installed both driver and Cross. No difference.
Will try to grab Asio 4 all and see.

Installed Asio4All and what do you know? I get the same error message when selecting that in Cross as well.
It would seem to be a W7/laptop issue then. Am I looking at a Windows re-install to fix this?

Ok, thanx for testing.
With Asio4All, this should not always be showstopper. It results in having the channels named "Not connected", but you might be able to use it anyway. Did you try after having had the message with Asio4All to load a track and play it?

Found the problem.
It's audiodg.exe. This is the Windows Audio and Windows Audio Enpoint Builder services. But if you disable the service no audio works at all.
After carrying out a system restore to last week I found that Cross wouldn't - Windows just sat there with the Cross banner showing. So I kept killing audiog.exe (four times) and eventually it opened and I was able to use my UMCP2.
Problem is, as soon as I exit Cross and re-launch again audiog.exe starts up and again and locks all of Cross.
Why is this happening all of a sudden?

The other lights didn't come on on the UMCP2 so I knew it wasn't going to work. The Audio Preferences (input, ouput) selection boxes were still empty too.
Busy trying to find a hotfix for audiodg.exe. Just really puzzled as to what has span it out of control. At this point I'm still expecting to have to reinstall Windows.
