Problems and Nice to Haves CDJ-850 and Cross 2.3

Hi,

after some isses of not being able to write in this forum I can finally do so. :) Thanks to all for the help!

I already read quite a lot threads about Cross but for my problem I could not find any help, so I hope it's ok to start a new topic.

As mentioned in the title I'm using Cross 2.3 in HID mode with a pair of Pioneer CDJ-850 players. So far it is working really good except for some latency problems in synchronizing the displays. (inner lighting jogwheel and scrolling through playlist is not as smooth as in USB or Disc mode - But that is only some design issue which does not affect the sound)

The big problem for me however is the following:
While using the CDJs in PC mode with the software it is not possible to change to USB or Disc mode without having a 2-3 seconds lag in Cross. When changing back from USB to PC, the lag is also there. I figured out that it is due to the changing settings of soundcards. But if e.g. "Player A" is playing and it useses "Output 1/2" of my first CD player why does it lag when I turn off PC mode on the second CD player responsible for "Player B" using "Output 3/4"?
Is it possible to fix this issue or would it at least help to use an independent external 2 channel soundcard?

Another thing which does not really bother me but would be a nice to have:
Is there an option to monitor the current playing track title and waveform also on the CDJ-850 directly? Up to now I only see the playlist there all the time but in the demo video showing Cross with a CDJ-2000 the waveform is displayed aswell.

Best,
RG

This is an issue by design on the CDJ850 that don't have the performances of his/her bigger brothers/sisters.

You're using 2 different soundcards, one is into the left deck and the other is into the right one.
The agreggation is the process used to linked them together and made them usable as ONE soundcard with 2 units.

We're dealing with the drivers of the soundcard, if you broke the agreggation (switching off one component by going into usb/cd) the driver behind can't use this missing part.
The software then is thorn between : is there a soundcard or not ?
The answer is yes and no : there is one, but it has changed, which cannot be smooth to handle.

Always using an external soundcard will do the trick as i can imagine that soundcard and decks will be on the same channel but with a channel switch cd/line.

An other limitation of the CDJ850 I guess, if not we would have done it. We've tried to do the more native behavior as authorized by Pioneer specs into HID.

More recent Pioneer CDJs (as Nexus) have a better behavior, not disconnecting the soundcard when switching to USB/CD, but I don't know if there's some upcoming firmware update for the 850...
