MIDI help for VCI 400

Hi all,

New to MIDI and new to MV.

I'll start from the beginning...

I am running a VCI 400 using the default mapping for the VCI

I wanted to change how the locator pads respond ( farthest left pad ). Instead of pressing them only to trigger. I wanted them to trigger and play that locator.

Now I know if I hold the play button then hit the locator. The entire locators go into that trigger and play mode. But I didnt want that.

So I took it upon myself first to figure out out to do this...

I went into the mapping. Made a dupe. And went to work.

I noticed that there is no way to know where the MIDI keys are programed.

So I looked up the manual for the VCI

( http://help.Vestax.co.jp/ja/usr_data/fi ... Manual.pdf )

to see if it could make sense...I had the right mode set. I am looking at the notes that MV is making and what the manual says. The two didnt add up. The only thing they had in common was the channels.

I thought maybe MIDI OX could clear things up for me.

It didnt. It was giving me completely different notes from the two.

I have no idea where to go from this point on.

Please help!

Hi dj_decka,

did i understand you correctly:
If you hit the locator pad, then Cross jumps to the locator shortly but then jumps back to the "old" postition?
For me it sounds like you have "Slip" mode activated.
Hover your Mouse over the player to see the button:

Marxon you MIDI God you...

No...Thats not it.

I'll try to explain again:

I load song. Hit locator pad. acts like if I was hitting cue button. You know...Plays as long as I am holding the button down and as soon as I let go...it goes back to where the cue was made.

If I hold the play button then press a locator. THEN it responds the way I want it. Which is once I hit the locator...it plays that section of the song...if I hit another locator...it plays another section of the song.

What I am trying to do is eliminate pushing the play and locator button and just be able to hit the locator once to be able to play that part of the song instantly.

Thank you for your help on this!

If the track is already playing, the locators should act like you want to do. is it really necessary for you jumping to locators from a non-playing track?

Try to change the behavior of the locator from 'Holder button' to 'Toggler Button'.

Thanks for the support...Support!

I did try that...and it does play from the locator as soon as pressed. However, when pressed again it returns to the starting point of the locator.

I guess the best way to describe what I'm trying to do is using the locator like a One Shot sample.

Is it possible?

Not at all : triggering the locator, also trigger the play state of the deck.
