Cross vs. Cross DJ Database

If you have both products installed, do they use the same database? I just fired up Cross and the work I've done on the database in Cross DJ isn't showing up.

If this is the case, is there a way to get Cross to see the Cross DJ database?

You could try Copying the "Peak" folder found in your CrossDJ main folder and paste it in the Cross main folder. I think I've done this in the past

Look here

Docs & Settings > User name > AppData > Roaming > MixVibes > CrossDJ > Peak

First, enable the view of Hidden folders in Windows

Or I could be completely wrong, pmsl!!!!!

Except I'm on OS X. ;)

hehehehe.... but it gives me an idea of what to look for. :)

Found it I think...

Music/Cross/main.crossdb
and
Music/Cross DJ/main.crossdj

Hmmm... time for some Unix magic maybe...

Strange...

If I copy the database from one folder to the other it works just as expected, but I can't alias the file or the entire directory and point it to the other file. At least not easily. (More testing and research may be in order).

I'll do some more testing in the future and see if I can make it work... I do know it would NOT be good if I did make it work and opened both at the same time.

You can just open the CrossDJ (default one is Music/Cross DJ/colelction.crossdb) database with Cross (File > open...).

To have the peaks too (i.e. precalculated overviews in the players), you can copy paste the peak files of CrossDJ (Library/Cross DJ/Peak) into the Cross folder (Library/Cross/Peak).

Or make a common folder where you'll be linking both applications into their path preferences (what I do).

- create a folder MYFOLDER
- copy all collection there
- copy/merge all PEAK folders there
- now into Cross/CrossDJ load/save collection to MYFOLDER
- change the peak path to MYFOLDER/PEAK into Cross/CrossDJ
(you can do the same for SAMPLES and RECORDING directories)
MYFOLDER/RECORDING
MYFOLDER/SAMPLES

All the materials will be shared between both : just take care to not open them at the same time.

Yep - opening at the same time is NOT a good thing...

Can you say 'corruption'? ;)

Thanks for the instructions! This will save me some disc space and make moving between Cross and Cross DJ much easier. :D
