Using 2 Soundcards, Problems with Cue and Master Mix

Hello forum!

I currently am using a Mixvibes U-Control 2 w/ Cross DJ LE (v2.0.1)

I have an external sound card, a really cheap one that comes with an audio out and a mic in. I want to use this sound card as the dedicated sound for the cue to use my headphones with as I use the audio out on my laptop as the Master Mix.

To do so I downloaded AsioAll4 and the setup is shown in this post as a picture.
My master mix is set up on my audio out on my laptop which goes into some speakers.
My cue is set to the soundcard which has my headphones plugged into it.

When I play a track, (using the setup shown in the pic) the sound quality of the master mix and cue are taken from the soundcard I'm using, which i don't want. If i switch the outputs, both the cue and master mix's sound quality is taken from my laptop's soundcard. This isn't good because the laptop's soundcard can only be used if i use my speakers as the cue which is not good, i obviously want to use my headphones as the cue but if i do so, the crappy quality from the external soundcard will be used through the speakers.

What i want is to have the sound quality taken from my laptop's soundcard and my cue to come from my headphones (that are plugged into the external soundcard) along with the master mix to obviously go out into my speakers that are plugged into my laptop audio out

Thanks in advance if you are able to help me :)

Can you post the asio4all screen with your devices ?
Also check the cue/mix setting.

I started with a similar set up, and whilst it was possible to use it in exactly the way you want - I found that it was not the best solution.

I had problems with the quality of the output and also a slight delay to the external soundcard.

I solved it by getting a multi-channel external soundcard, using one channel for cue/monitoring, and another for the master output.

The prices start quite cheap on Ebay/Amazon etc, and the results are worth it. Just plug it in and you have the channels that you need.

thanks for the responses :surprised:

I am planning on getting a nice soundcard later on, its a shame my mixdeck has no audio outputs.

I guess this is the downfall of having a mediocre soundcard. If anyone knows a solution that can make me capable of using my laptop soundcard (the soundcard on my laptop is actually more than decent in quality) while Djing with a cue, please leave a response, thanks

Running in split stereo (mono cue and mono house) is your best option in your current setup situation. ;) That is going to give you the best configuration without latency i'm afraid to say; using 2 separate soundcards always causes problems with compatibility and delays in sound.
Wish i could give you better news :(
Cheers

In the end, you'll end up saying: "I should have waited to have the money for a U-Mix Control Pro!"
