U-Mix 44 work then stop

Hi,

I've just recieved my U-Mix 44 and its having a weird behaviour.
Sometimes it run perfectly some other times its really unstable.

First of all my config:
Laptop
Intel Core i7 Q720 (8x 1,6GHz)
4Go DDR2 Memory
IDT HD Audio built-in soundcard (5.1)
Windows 7 64bits
VDJ 6

The troubles:
I have crackles on both output while using Virtual DJ 6 with vinyl timecode setup, MixVibesAsioUMix44 audio driver selected. After a short moment of smooth running it stops, no more timecode signal.
Unplug and plug it back doesn't fix the probleme. I hear the usb plug-in/plug-out windows sound without touching the soundcard usb plug when it becomes unstable with only u-mix44 plugged-in.

I tryed multiple usb ports, rebooting the laptop, reinstall both asio and mixvibes driver, and made sure of no usb power managing.

I'm thinking of some compatibility issues with my built-in sound card wich is 5.1 emulated (IDT HD Audio).

From Asio control panel the u-mix44 is not listed as a device, and from window's devices control panel u-mix44 use a microsoft driver but I find no way to make windows use the mixvibes driver.

Hope I gave enough details and one of you will be able to help me fix this.

Thank you ^^

  not familiar with vdj6 and time codes vinal,,,my thoughts and question,is have you tried using the mixvibes software ,and are you trying to use the mixvibes tc vinal with vdj6,,i think they are not compatiable...go back to square one and try to set up the sc and software together and see if using it that way ,it functions properly   get back to us with any problems arising from that set up since there is info and support for mixvibes products on this fourm,  and welcome to mixvibes

Hey,

When windows installed the default drivers wdm you have to uninstall the device at the device manager and unplug the device. After that start the installer from the Asio and plug after installation the device in.

It could be that the card and the chipset of the notebook in combination with the processor causes these issues. But that would. E the last step and not easy to find out but first check the other options.
I know also from older versions of vdj that it stops after a few hours of working suddenly but this was on older versions.

Christian

Hi,

Thanks you for your fast answers, I might fixed the problem. Now the soundcard appear in Asio4All control panel and the Asio4All driver can be used as a bridge in VDJ. Reinstalling the soundcard as you said work perfectly!

Once again thank you for you help!

Best regard,

Kartel

And try, to adjust the latency.

In virtual DJ preferences, In a tab named (as i remember) performance, there is a sample number (or latency) you can select. I usually set it the same as in the ASIO setup, and it will be perfect.

I think 128 samples (5 ms latency), will work stable on your machine :)

(I used to run VDJ with U-Mix 44 so, If you have problems, I can help :) )

Will do so, however I've noticed a little loss in the audio quality by using Asio4All driver (too much mediums) did you have this problem?

Hey,

quality loss? In latency or audio sound? I have not this type of card, I'm having some other cards like the U46MK2 and a behringer card and for shure when you run ASIO4All you will loss a bit of quality maybe. It depends on how good ASIO4All can handle the soundcard.

The best performance you will get with the original driver special developed for the device so if you use this driver it could maybe better: http://forum.mixvibes.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=402

Asio4All runs mostly perfect and stable but for stable use for nearly every soundcard you will loss quality on different sections.
So test the original driver and check if it works better.

Christian

Quality can be encreased in VDJ, on the Performances tab in the preferences optimise everything to Quality, it will work.
On master tempo choose the "Advanced Streching" option (if you have).
