second mic impedience , saw no info in teck manual and need more info to make a proper choice to use with U M C P mic set up
third the shift button what is it purpose, i think its to give a alternate comand function to some of the controls,,, will look again in the user manual,,some dumb :?: you have to answer your self :!:

Firstly, doesn't the U-Mix draw power from the USB? Anyway, if you have to get a power adapter, I'd highly recommend a dedicated one rather than a generic one - I've never trusted those things! In the UK, the positive connector is the one in the centre, the outer ring the negative. In th US, that might be different.

Secondly - microphones. The general rule of thumb here is that the lower the impedance the better, also a decent frequency response is important. This is an area where you really do get what you pay for - you don't have to blow the bank to get a decent mic, but neither should you buy the cheapest you can get. Not sure what you mean by U M C P though.

Thirdly - the shift button - you're on your own there buddy, hopefully someone else might know better. I would guess that it does give alternate commands, but I'm not certain.

Fourthly - Headsets. In my experience they are too restrictive. I like to move around a lot, chat with my audience etc, so I much prefer separate h/phones and mics. Those that I've seen are more for computer gamers, and the professional ones seemed very expensive.

  thanks kev
---looking to see if there is a sepific pwr source recommended,to have the option of not running it on usb pwr
---would like little more info on recommended mic type (U-Mix Control Pro--U M C P)
--- the shift buttom, saw in manual it used to give modified comands ,browerser knob with shift conmmand allows for 10 song scroll rather than one song scroll with just rotary acuator
---have a good set of headphones and saw some gamers headsets, concerned about connections and compatibility,, and of course price  dont need to spend a lot to hear myself talk,

U M C P - Of course! Kev feels dumb!

Most of the headset I've seen are also for gamers, apart from ones in the DJ Equipment stores. I've seen two types, one where the whole thing plugs into a usb port, and the other type has a separate plug for the mic and another one for headphones.

I've just looked at the specs for the U-Mix Control Pro and it doesn't give any real details about microphones - in my experience, they are pretty much compatible with anything. The fact that it is fitted with a 1/4" socket leads me to believe that it might work with any decent mic with the same size plug.

As for the headset, this sort of thing might be good as it's a pro set, with 1/4" plugs for phones and mic:

I thought so straight after you were asking for it :) I do not want to decrease your hope but I think it has no effect :-/

The shift button is for different commands, try the marker buttons. without shift you are setting the first 3, with shift you are setting the markers 4 to 6 or delete the already setted - not quite sure what exactly :-X

The manual of Cross DJ give inputs on some of the U-Mix Control Pro commands.
