[solved]Cross 1.7.1 and IDJ3 configuration problem

Hi,

I enjoyed using the Cross IDJ3 version 1.3.4 that came with my Numark IDJ3. It worked flawlessly, so I decided to purchase the upgrade to Cross 1.7.1. I've installed it and everything seems to work fine, except the sound from a selected track CUE´d in my headphones. First off, I always seem to hear whatever is playing from the master source playing through the headphones, even though on the IDJ3 I’ve set cue source as A/B. So for example, If I have a track playing on deck A and I try to cue on deck B, I hear both A and B playing through the headphones, I can’t figure out how to have only the Cue’d deck playing through the headphones…

I've configured the Audio, under Preferences, to the following:

- My Output 1 is set to "Out 1/ Out 2", my Output 2 is set to "Out3/Out4"
- Routing mode is set to "Dual Stereo"

I have the following setup:

Cross 1.7.1
Laptop: Asus U36SD (Intel i5 2.4Ghz Dual Core, 4GB RAM, Windows7 64bit)
Numark iDJ3 (Driver 2.9.11 64bit, firmware 1.0)

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Numark IDJ3 drivers and the Cross software, and still the same issue. I've even disabled all other running programs including anti-virus.

Keep in mind that I'm only experiencing this issue when I'm using Cross 1.7.1. When I use Cross IDJ3 1.3.4 (same audio preferences) it works fine. I also tried VirtualDJ Home Edition and the cue'ing through the headphones works fine as well.

I'm at a lost. Hope you can help me... Thanks in advance!

1: Props for sticking to the board-rules and giving a detailed problem and setup description!

2: have you tried exporting the midi-mapping from the older version to the newer one? maybe some midi-commands have changed/been messed up.

go to to the midi-tab in 1.3.4 select the idj3 and then select export at the very end of the controller-list.
save the mapping to your desktop (or somewhere you can find it quickly) and then import it it to 1.7.1, again using the import-command at the bottom of the controller list.

Hi j-kut,

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately on the "Cross - Numark IDJ3 Edition 1.3.4" there is no MIDI tab, there is only a General, Audio, Recording, and Keyboard tab. So, I'm unable to view or export the midi-mappings.

Still no luck. :(

Hi,

Ok. I imported the IDJ3 mapping file from the link you provided. I even shut down and restarted the application. I'm still experiencing the same issue. :(

I'm suspecting it's how the Cross software is handling routing, its really odd behavior.

What are your outputs? I mean 1/2 seems to be the main output on the back of your controller. Is 3/4 the headphone jack on the front? If so your routing is okay.

Also be sure, that the "Mix" knob in the middle of Cross is set to the middle so that you can hear both, the master and the cue.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your assistance. Yes, Output 1 is set to 1/2 (Main Output) and Output 2 is set to 3/4 (Headphones) and routing mode is set to Dual Stereo in the Cross Audio Tab Preferences. So ideally, I should NOT be hearing the main output coming through the headphones, but I am. I'm getting both the Output 1 and Output 2 coming through the headphones. It doesn't matter if I have the crossfader set to deck A or B, I always hear what should be coming out only on Output 1 coming out through Output 2 even when cue source on the IDJ3 is set to A/B. :(

It seems that I'm only having this problem with Cross 1.7.1. I don't experience this problem with Cross Numark IDJ3 version 1.3.4 or with Virtual DJ Home version. I really don't expect it to be an issue with the DJ controller or the Numark audio driver as I'm able to get it working with other software. Help.

Thanks in advance!

Julius

:?: :?: if you un highlight any or both of the headphone buttons are you still hearing the master output in your headphones :?: :?:
the center mix/headphone knob in the software ,where is it set ,,,if you can set it so that the master is not heard in the headphones then try highlighting/pushing the headphone button of the track not going to master to see if you are hearing it properly :?: :?: puzzling :?: :?: missing some thing :?: :?:

First off, thanks guys for all of your help!

Anyway, I've got it working so that I'm not hearing the master coming out of the headphones. So I've tried the following scenarios with decks A and B loaded and playing:

-With both of the headphone buttons (Cue Monitor A and B) un-highlighted, and center cue mix knob set to the middle - I hear the master output coming through the headphones.

- If I set the center cue mix button all the way to the left(Monitor) then I don't hear the master coming through the headphones, only what is set to cue. Is that how the software supposed to work?

Anyway, Thanks again for all your help!!!

Cheers,

Julius
