update for a safe version Cross (mac)

Hi,

For safety reason, I did not update my Cross version 1.4 since I bought it. Indeed I have a lot of gigs and can't afford to have any problem... But I'm a bit confused about which one I should download. 1.6 ? I read that the version 1.6.1 had fixed some problems of the version 1.6...but at the same time it is mentionned not to download this version which is still on test period...
Does the version 1.6 is safe ?
Or should I download the 1.5.5 version ?
For my understanding I can download latest version (1.6 or 1.5.5) directly, no need to update all the in-between version from 1.4 to 1.5.5 (or1.6), am I correct ?
If I update my 1.4 version to 1.6 or 1.5.5, will I lost my collection information ?

For information about my use of Cross :
I am using Cross (1.4) on Macbookpro. I am using MIDI controller only to trigger tracks on the 2 decks and to do manually the beat matching with the MIDI controller (I use Novation dicer for that with a special MIDI mapping, and works great) and I use external hardware mixer (I do not use stuff such as Vestax for mixing, I use the hardware mixer)

Thanks,

Hey,

Yes you can update to the newest version without installing the versions between. Which version you install 1.5.5 or 1.6 is your chouse. Scinse v1.6 you have the new Media Management with covers and so on but at 1.6 the Auto GAIN was not as effectiv as we want ;). So the 1.6.1 will come as fast as we tested it completly.
The 1.6.1RC is the warning because it is still a release candidate. So it could be that there are some bugs or it can hang up at doing something special. I currently tests the new 1.6.1 detailed and I can say for me it is very stable. If you can wait maybe two weeks you will maybe a 1.6.1 download without RC ;).

So you can now update to 1.5.5 or 1.6 (if you disable the auto gain) and in a few weeks or days you can also update to the newest version 1.6.1.

regards
Christian

As Christian has said, Cross 1.6 is very stable, and I believe you should update to this version. It has some big improvements.

Cross RC 1.6.1 is stable too, but I would not use it at gigs. Cross 1.6.1 once it gets released, is just a maintenance update.

I hope that helps ;)

  when you update,at least on o/s windows you still have access to the older versions, so in essences you still can use the version you are using till you get the newer version sorted out   yes i would get the 1.6 and try it out.the media mangement leaped fwd light years,,and i only saw one issue that had effect on :?: greek fonts changing to chinnese, but that was probly due to the file editing in the tags  as a jim and chris said dont enable auto gain and all should be well

I would recommend you, for now, 1.5.5 not only for auto gain but and for the problem that cd covers are creating. Unless you don't use cd covers and auto gain, then 1.6 is a good choise.
