1.bpm detection, 2.beat tapping, 3.display contrast

Hello Cross team,
1.
BPM detection is analysing wrong very often even with "easy" 4-to-the-floor tracks (from the early 80s) providing a steady snare on 2 and 4 (all Songs are between 100..130). Most of the time they are estimated around 150 (using the 78-155 preset) which is not half or double tempo, it's... something on the upper analyse limit. the 40-240 preset calculates higher values which are corresponing to double tempo in many cases. And the preset 58-115 is not suitable for songs around 120 BPM.
2.
Tapping tempo could be a work-around. But it is not working for me, not with mouse clicks and not with the keyboard (I assigned exclusively the space bar). When starting to tap the BPM area is activated, and after 10...15 taps it's waiting for my OK. But it remains on the previously analysed 151 (or whatever) BPM and does not listen to my 113 BPM tapping. The only way to get a correct value is to count and using a stop watch, and then entering digits.

If I'm doing something wrong, please advise. I like the usability and responsiveness to timecode vinyl of Cross very very much, but this BPM issue is annoying. Since I know BPM or can detect the coarse BPM value by listening, I'm using BPM detection to get an exact value.
I'm also owning Deckadance, VirtualVinyl, and Torq (no comments please, I like them all) - but sorry to say that they calculate better (and tempo tapping works as exspected).

3.
Something Off-Topic: I do not want a customizable UI but especially for the beatmatcher/wave displays the "glass/shiny" effect is sometimes irritating since contrast in the upper area is not very good in some environments. Maybe you could provide a flat skin with more contrast and without this 3D effects, or allow to change a few colors (e.g. as realized by Torq). Don't get me wrong, Cross looks sneaky, but it would be very nice if you maybe could consider such minimal color customization features for further updates.

Thanks very much in advance (I hope I am doing something wrong regarding beat detection).
Best regards,
barry

p.s.
If screenshots or example tracks are helpful, please advise.

1. Yes we know this, it will be corrected in an upcoming version.
2. When you tap, the color switch from yellow to white and after 4 taps it become red. The bpm is now fixed.

I didn't understand... the autozoom ?
(screenshots would be nice thanks).

Thank you for quick reply,

1. :-) :-) :-)

2. yes, all this happens, but BPM value does not change to the tapped BPM but remains on the wrong initial value. This behaviour is on the PC using Timecode Vinyl.
Tried the same workflow on my notebook without external control and it works just fine. The tapped value is accepted and displayed.
Maybe tapping is not possible when a Vinyl Timecode signal is received? I'll reinstall Cross and try again.
Thank you for help.

3. how to attach screenshots?

Thank you, best regards

I had this problem too- my answer was to change the bpm range when trying to 're-tap a bpm'. (put it to the biggest range). This should allow the read to stick. Press 'OK' when u get an accurate read.
and yeah, the tap read is very 'sloppy' and not very accurate i find also(even using the mouse or a key to tap)
P.S. Timecode Vinyl should not be a factor- works fine for me
Cheers

thank you hemskoc... I'm not alone ;-)

thank you Support team but below the reply box there's just a Preview ("Vorschau") button and a Submit ("Absenden") button.
Maybe I#m not allowed to submit attachements.

best regards

at the bottom of the post screen, there is no option to 'upload attachment'?
-at the bottom- of mine i have 'options' and next to that 'upload attachment' tabs.
I can see them right now... ;) have a re-check ;)

Did the solution i suggested with changing the BPM range work for you?
Cheers

I've checked your rights and you have them to upload contents.

sorry for this confusion, wastes your time. Just forget about screenshots ...

... but ;-) ...
at the bottom this text box, I'm currently writing in, there's a "Preview" button and a "Submit" button.
Below this text box is just a "Optionen" (Options) tab but no other tab - only this one Options tab (providing check boxes to "switch off BBCode", "switch off Smilies", etc.). No option to upload anything, sorry.
Checked this with Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3.5.

Thanks for your patience.
Regards,
barry

forgot to answer you, hemskoc.

No, it did not work to set the BPM range to "None 40 - 240"...
... Imagination's Just An Illusion remains on 139.2 BPM ;-)

Thank you
