Ah I see!!! In some of my programmes that work with sound I can choose the interface I want to work with. In Windows I am able to set the U46 as main interface too as far as I can remember.

When I use my internal soundcard, if I right clic on the audio icon in the right of my task bar, I must choose output and then, I can choose between my digital output (HDMI) and another device for main sound (on my laptop).
I think it's the same thing for you.
