[solved related to weak external hdd] latency problem

Hey,
I'm having a problem with Cross running on mac osx 10.5.8. Suddenly, while I'm playing, I have a very small cut/blank in the sound. The program still works fine but I have a huge latency from that point on. The latency is about 250ms (half a beat).
If I go in the preferences and change the latency, I have another small blank in the sound and everything is working again, until it happens again. I would say this happend 2 or 3 times in an hour. I can't use Cross for that reason and I have a party on february 26. I really hope that we can find a solution before then.

What sound card are you using ?
No airport ?
Make me think of an updater that is checking for network.

yes I'm using Cross 1.3.2 and I'm using the U46DJ soundcard from mixvibes/esi. There is no airport either.

i experienced the same issue at my last gig with 1.3.2, one befor with 1.3.1 went fine. try downgrading. 1.3.2 is a fix for ION discover DJ compatibility mainly + a non critical bug loop

Any of you have little snitch to see if something isn't trying to "call home" ?
Or may be a console report...

edit : my prevuious gig was with OSX 10.5.4 + Cross 1.3.1
I will tell you how my gig goes this week end with 1.3.1 and OSX 10.5.8 !
Apparently the 10.5.7 is a very bad version for audio apps, i hope all the fixes were made for 10.5.8 !

You need to see if there isn't an updater that is looking for wlan atm.

So, I used little snitch to monitor my network activity and there is only one things. ntpd and it's calling time.Apple.com. it did it a few times but without affecting Cross at all and then suddenly I had the same "latency" problem but nothing on little snitch right before that.
and that with 1.3.2 and 1.2.5
