Where are you loading your track from ? internal, external, memory card, thumbdrive, harddrive...
Already analyzed tracks ?
What are your cache settings into the Cross preferences ?

1) internal HDD
2) A mixture of already analyzed and not analyzed. Result is the same; the freeze occurs and then analysing begins.
3) 60% cache setting(4.83GB). I've experimented with 30%, as I think I saw that on the forum elsewhere. Same performance.

I'm listening back to the mix now, recorded in Cross. The audio cutouts and crackles aren't recorded.

Have you tried it on 0%, that's what I have mine set too and it's fine, anything other than that and I get a slight GUI freeze when loading a track.

But my gig laptop is getting on a bit now ;)

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go.

Mine isn't that old, though!

Tried this - it didn't make a difference unfortunately.

Hi,
I've read through this thread because I thought it is worth starting from scratch and which way you went.
I have got some additions. As you can see in my attachment I would suggest to turn off all the devices (comparable devices) in your system control (red stars). In addition to that do right clicks on the "green star marked" USB entries and go to the Energy Saving tab - sorry it is german, I cannot change my OS's language to english. There please disable the parameter that windows can shut down the USB port for energy saving.
If you ahve an integrated webcam disabling this one is a very good starting point! Otherwise feel free to ask more, I am willing to help as much as I can!
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Viele Grüße,
Cheers,
A plus,
Steve

I can't see the attachment, but thanks so much for taking the time to help!

Subscribed topic ;)

I've been through the attachment, The Power Management settings for the USB Root Hub and Generic USB Hubs were already correct. But as I say, the slowdown happens without the pro connected.

I have disabled my webcam. I can't disable the audio devices because the audio from the Pro is routed back into my laptop and out of the speakers plugged into the laptop.

Can you recommend a free screen recording app and maybe I can record what is happening.

Sorry, read it wrong. NO, I don't know screen capture tools!

And I want to add: I sometimes get your drop outs, but the recording is flawless. This is an evidence, that Cross is the problem. The software stops working and continues working fully. Therefore it does not recognise the gap due to the drop out. I am interested in your recording!

Have you tried updating the graphic card driver?

I have once uninstalled the ATI Catalyst and used the windows internal graphic driver which gave a huge boost. Unfortunately very poor resolution :-/
