Like I say, maybe it was a red-herring. Have you tried something like the Turbo Boost application? It was recommended to me ages ago by Blackbrook I think (when it was called game booster). I had stopped using it, but started again recently and the last couple of times gone through the configuration of the turbo boost.

If you do use it, keep an eye on the installation - decline the crappy toolbars etc. and turn off the start on boot stuff once installation finishes.

j-kut, good idea, will try next time. I just wonder if I've caught a process that was causing the problem this time.

Some kind of auto updater is possible I suppose, although I have always checked for this kind of thing and removed it. Also strange how the problem only happens for me when I load tracks or press a button/turn a dial on the UMCP2.

Absolutely, but I thought we already discussed that my laptop wasn't under specced?

Yes but again it's not only about specs, its mainly about availability (don't remember your DPC graph).
How many times have seen slowest computer out running bigger one.

Guys, as I've said before:

I use my Notebook for 2 years now for DJing with any Interface and never had such problems. I also installed a clean Win7 on it, without any additional software, deactivated Windows Search, Firewall, one by one the devices that could disturb. But it did not make a difference.

Even when I had everything one could imagine active, Cross run so damn fine with every other interface. I even tried Notebooks of friends, with i3 and i5 Intel Core CPUs, but still drop-outs!
On XP with very old CPUs it works very fine!

Therefore I consider this to be really a problem on the interface directly with the Win7 as an OS. To search on something else seems like a waste of time to me.

Much greetz, akis.

I clearly understand your point , so I give you mine.

I have 10 PC all of them running W7x64 and dual booting with x86 or W8 and none of them have this issue.
How can I help you with something I cannot reproduce to understand and see where is the culprit ?
Keep in mind that to confirm an issue I must reproduce it.

Okay, I got it. ;)

Maybe it's the Express Chipset? The kind of chipset? Do we have that in common?
